Incredible recreation of a classic toy

Incredible level of detail and design on this model. As a product of the 80s myself, I have a particular appreciation for G1 Transformers as well as Classic era Lego. This model more than adequately hits both of those nostalgia factors for me. I jsut find myself hoping for more Lego/Hasbro collaborations in the future. Designers take note: Starscream, Jazz, Grimlock, and Bumblebee models would all be appreciated as well. A+ Lego.

Big Transformers collector here. This thing is a dream come true. Super posable aside from the knees. Easy to transform. Looks great. Fun to build. Good accessories. Pre-painted pieces for the eyes & shoulders (though the bumper & thighs have stickers). Good subtle weapon storage for the blaster in truck mode. And is that a trailer hitch I see? The color of the Matrix should have been blue, not orange, but that’s easy to fix. And it’s huge! Taller than every “Masterpiece” version of the character. It’s not exactly “durable.” Pieces will sometimes pop off unexpectedly during transformation. But not when you get the hang of it.

Second Childhood Dream

This is a super-cool collaboration, concept & execution. The science behind making this thing work as a functional transformer is still mind boggling but the end result is a SOLID model. The legs in particular are really solid and well worth the two days it took this novice to build it. Glad to have this as part of my collection.
My only gripe is I can’t seem to get the jet pack on and the piece tends to separate at the waist when I try to transform him so I’ve actually yet to get him in vehicle mode as it just gets too frustrating & I’d rather leave well enough alone. I’m not sure if I did something wrong during build or just natural for a Lego. Despite that I totally love it and plan on getting an acrylic case to display it.
