Genius idea, poor execution

First set I didn't complete building because it kept falling apart. The lower torso and upper body were not well attached and could have done better with more reinforcement from the technics capabilities.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lego Optimus Prime

This set was a great time to build. it wasn't too difficult and when it was finished it looked exactly like the original G1 toy. I only hope that in the near future they release a lego trailer as well as more lego transformers to go along with this wonderful set.

Please Do More Transformers

Lego Transformers has been a want in the Transformers Community for a long time and this product very much delivers that want; however, there needs to at least be a Megatron to go with him. The build was a little long but that's to be expected for an Expert build. The two biggest flaws are that he has no knees and his feet don't stay together in one piece. Having knees on such a big build would be difficult and have it be stable so that's understandable and the problem with the feet can be fixed the parts given in the set which I fixed easily. This is probably my favorite Lego set ever and I really would like a Megatron to go with him.

Great build, Looks Amazing!!

I am a huge Transformers fan and having this as a Lego set is amazing, the build was fun, it looks great once all together and it's nice on display. I just wish the arms would stay up after putting the gun and axe on the arms. They stay up for like anywhere from a few hours to maybe a couple of days but as time passes they just slowly drop back down.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome throwback and great memories

I had a nice long review written out for this, but everything I wanted to say has already been put out there. The one thing I do want to express adamantly though, and this is directed at LEGO, not at the customers; you have to release a Megatron model since you have put out Optimus. I know LEGO doesn't make weapons or things like that for moral reasons, and I totally understand that. The problem is though, you can't release the good guy and not have his mortal enemy too. They are Yin and Yang, diametrically opposite; there can't be one without the other. I really enjoy this model, but I bought it because I expected to see Megatron come out too. I'm guessing I'm not alone in this. I would love to see a whole Transformers run with some of the big names- Starscream, Soundwave, Bumblebee, Ironhide, etc. Also if you could design and release a massive Devastator, that would be awesome!

Great for display, not for Play

The build was really fun. However, as the build actually transforms the joints are on the weak side. With that in mine once it was in place I don't want to pick it up and transform it more then every now and then. The set itself is amazing. My husband grew up with the older transformers animated movie so this was a must get for us. I do not regret getting this set but I am terrified about my younger children getting a hold of it as it will not hold up to them playing with it. If you are looking for a unique transformer and lego to display then this is amazing. If you want it to be able to play with then do not get this as the waist, the thumbs, and the ankle braces ( the ones with the clear red on the top of the foot) are weak points and fall apart easily.

Childhood dream come true

Growing up, my two favorite things were Lego and transformers. For years I dreamed of having the two combined and now that dream has come true. The build was absolutely wonderful and the the finished set was perfect in every way. The only spot I find troublesome is the middle of the torso comes apart very easily but otherwise it's strong. I definitely recommend every transformers fan and any builder pick this up.
