My wife loves transformers and loves Lego so this was a fantastic anniversary gift. We loved building it together. I really hope they continue to make more transformers sets. If anyone from Lego is reading this, Shockwave is her favorite.

Display, DON'T Play

This is a great display piece! Do not play with it though. It looks great on the shelf but if you try to transform it the torso separates from the legs every time and if you don't have it on a table while doing so you will be rebuilding a lot of it. I was hoping it would be more like the sturdiness of the Voltron set, which I let my kids play with regularly, but instead it will be sitting on my shelf to look at only. Still, its a great set for displaying and a great throwback to my childhood!

Exceeds Expectations

I was completely caught off-guard when this set released, so you can imagine how elated I was to place my order and how often I refreshed the delivery status on my phone. Once it arrived I could not believe my eyes. I had to put it together and show it off to all my buddies. Prime has become an eye-catcher on my desk at work. So far, seven of my coworkers have ordered this set after seeing the one on my desk. My goal is to get at least a dozen people in my office to order one before the holidays. I just hope the item stays in-stock till the end of the year. Thank you so much LEGO and Hasbro for making so many people happy with this set. I hope there are more entries to the Autobot or Decepticon LEGO sets in the future.

Was optimistic…

I’ve never done negative reviews on LEGO products because they almost always are enjoyable. Unfortunately this one is the outlier. As someone who has started collecting LEGO sets as far back as LEGO Spider-Man vs the Green Goblin (4852). I’ve never been disappointed with a set such as this one. His stability with his legs and arms is almost nonexistent. When you try putting either his gun or axe in his hand it’s even more so. I have yet to be able to convert him from when I first completed the build (little over 3 months now) from robot to truck or vice versa without pieces falling off. I even tried to rebuild him with better connecting pieces from the old EXOFORCE sets and it helped a touch more in the arms but the legs are still a mess. The voltron set had more stability I don’t get why they didn’t try to copy and paste some of the designs from that. I’m almost to the point of just returning it because it’s just more of an aggravation to pose than an enjoyment
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent engineering!

Personally, I think this it one of the best Lego ideas ever! It's a robot that turns into a truck and it's made of Lego bricks! :)
The design is excellent and it matches the original toy design very accurately, down to how the parts move when transforming.
Though like with many Lego sets, there are some piece that fall off if you play with it. In this case, it's the pieces above the foot.

I also like the accessories: sure, the "energon cube" is just some purple bricks, but it's a nice addition. I'm a little surprised by the rocket backpack because even the instruction manual says it was only used once in the TV series.
I hope Lego makes more Transformers sets!

Missing and wrong bricks twice

I have experience missing and wrong bricks twice, even though there are 2 more bags. The 1st missing part was received through the portal request, however the 2nd wrong bricks was declined even not my fault. I am so disappointed not to complete my Optimus Prime's fingers. It has a wrong shape of fingers in the bag 9. It is weird why Logo makes many mistakes nowadays.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A lifelong dream come true

This has been a long time coming. I've followed the Lego Transformers community for a while, making my own when I was younger. Now, after all these years, I can display a real, bonafide Lego Optimus Prime next to my other Transformers. It towers even my largest Transformer, another Optimus Prime (Masterpiece MP10 Optimus Prime). The fact that it transforms puts it into the stratosphere as one of my favorite sets in my collection. Just behind the UCS Millenium Falcon. A home run and a true Lego Icon. See what I did there?
