This morning made my one waffle and noticed what I thought was a bit of dough on the plates. I proceeded to wipe it gently with a paper towel when I saw it was getting worse and realized the black non-stick finish was coming off. Now I must worry that I ingested some of the black. This is after maybe 2 years of intermittent use and only one waffle per use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this waffle maker and the hinges broke on the first attempt to make waffles. I wrote Black and Decker and they sent me replacement plastic hinges which broke upon first use. I fashions my own hinges from 1/2 inch dowel rods which worked well then I find that it doesn't cook evenly, that is, one half cooked while the other half barely cooked and even after five minutes of cooking still not done. This is a terrible product and I wish I never purchased it.
I bought this waffle iron the first time I used it one side hinge melted and broke. the second time the other side hinge broke. I returned to kohls and they gave me a new one and the same thing happend to the second one. Do not waste your money
What a nice looking appliance. The bad thing is hinge fell a part. This product should have been removed from the shelves. Having a hard time finding replacement parts. DO NOT BUY.
This waffel maker is a THE waffelmaker! Other wms does not make so crispy and fat waffels! The magic is in flip rotate, when you flip the pann the dough goes to other side and makes sure that the waffel is crispy and fat! Jami! 0
The handle on this waffle maker is very poorly made--cheap plastic parts. The handle starting breaking after only a few uses, and completely broke off after less than a dozen uses. Not fixable. Don't waste your money.
We bought this waffle maker and used it 3 times. The handle broke during the third use. The screw popped out of the handle. We screwed it back it but it will not stay, it keeps popping back out. Save your money and buy a waffle maker that is more durable and with better quality.
