We had hoped for a quality product. We were disappointed. The hinges snapped almost immediately. The replacement hinges also snapped on their first use. Following the first use, the maker would never heat completely through again and the surfaces stuck to every mix. We'll be looking elsewhere for our next waffle maker.
Won this in a raffle. Took it home, read directions, kids were thrilled to have waffles for dinner. Tops were undercooked compared to the bottoms of the waffles. Kids enjoyed and I cleaned up after it cooled. While washing it with a damp sponge, as per the directions, I noticed the plastic pins holding the hinge together were loose. I took one out and it was broken. The other was intact but came out anyways. I love the thought of the waffle maker but not sure of the quality of the product.
This made wonderful, crispy waffles but, the plastic screws (Tamper proof) that connect the top and bottom lids break after making waffles about 4 times. This is the second waffle iron with the same problem.
Put metal screws in there to hold the top and bottom together.
We bought a second one to take to FL, but with the problem we've had twice, we're taking both back today.
This product is small, easy to store, but that's it. Made waffles one time,it producted 8 very nice waffles. Then the plastic hinges broke. Thought the hingles were just covered with plastic. Very dissappointed.
The waffle maker is a great size and works great until the little plastic hinges break. On our first one it was after 25-30 uses so we assumed it was just a fluke. On our second one it was after our third use. It is just a cheap little piece of plastic that has to hold the top up while you load batter. I wish they would make it just a little bit better and it would be the perfect waffle maker.
After only a few uses, the little black buttons that cover the hinges broken. My son had the same model and his did the same thing....I WON'T be buying another!!!!
We have had this unit for a short time and used it very little. This last weekend, my wife had the experience of the upper plate tilting out of alignment on opening. This was due to one plastic "pivot pin" having fractured, had both pins fractured the unit could have come apart posing a burn and possibly an electrical hazard. My inspection of the pin shows that the pin has visible gas pockets at the junction (fracture) of the barrel and head. I will not be purchasing a replacement B-D item.
