This canner is easy to use. It walks you through the steps to take on the display, and the quickguide/cheat sheet included gives a little more detail and makes it so easy. I love not having to babysit my canner!

Until the Presto Precise 17Qt I had to can using the traditional Presto water-bath and pressure canners paying close attention to timing and pressure level to ensure safety. I'm a short person with limited ability to lift heavy objects. The PP 17Qt is a blessing in so many ways with the built-in features to control proper canning processes. Mine lives on a rolling stainless steel cart convenient to my kitchen area. If I were new to canning or wanting to switch over to a digital canner this is the model I'd choose!

I have used this mostly with the water bath method. However, today I tried the pressure canning method and after HOURS of trying I was never able to get it through a whole cycle without either an error or it never gaining enough pressure to start the count down on canning. I tried two different batches of deer meat and now both batches will likely be no good. I have checked and rechecked the seal to make sure it was cleaned and no imperfections.

Broke after 3 weeks!

I purchased the 17 qt electric canner less than 3 weeks ago, and it stopped working correctly after 6 batches. The beeper stopped working, and this is apparently a known problem, yet they continue to sell it. The beeper is what tells you what to do next and when phases are done. It also seems to have an issue with sealing jars placed in the center. I couldn't can 8 jars at a time, much less than 16. It is also a huge and very heavy appliance. I will not put another Presto product.
