Absolutely a great unit

I purchased my 17 quart in May 2025. Since then, I have used both the water bath and pressure canning functions numerous times.
As an inactive Master Food Preserver, I do not understand why we were not allowed to teach classes with the Presto Digital. I have successfully canned nearly 200 jars of foods with near zero issues. This is more of a lid problem than the canner. Just a literal handful of seal failures. Not enough to even worry about.
The canner has performed flawlessly for me with zero issues. Currently, I am canning my home grown tomatoes in juice. Due to the extended processing time of this, boiling water was my only choice. 15 jars and counting in the last month and a load of potatoes. That's just this month.
I cannot recommend the Presto any more.
I love mine!

Broke after 3 weeks!

I purchased the 17 qt electric canner less than 3 weeks ago, and it stopped working correctly after 6 batches. The beeper stopped working, and this is apparently a known problem, yet they continue to sell it. The beeper is what tells you what to do next and when phases are done. It also seems to have an issue with sealing jars placed in the center. I couldn't can 8 jars at a time, much less than 16. It is also a huge and very heavy appliance. I will not put another Presto product.

I have used this mostly with the water bath method. However, today I tried the pressure canning method and after HOURS of trying I was never able to get it through a whole cycle without either an error or it never gaining enough pressure to start the count down on canning. I tried two different batches of deer meat and now both batches will likely be no good. I have checked and rechecked the seal to make sure it was cleaned and no imperfections.

Happy Canning

Until the Presto Precise 17Qt I had to can using the traditional Presto water-bath and pressure canners paying close attention to timing and pressure level to ensure safety. I'm a short person with limited ability to lift heavy objects. The PP 17Qt is a blessing in so many ways with the built-in features to control proper canning processes. Mine lives on a rolling stainless steel cart convenient to my kitchen area. If I were new to canning or wanting to switch over to a digital canner this is the model I'd choose!

Canner does not work as advertised

Just recently purchased this canner to can fresh salmon. The unit I received does NOT get to proper temp or pressure. Lid leaks steam like a sieve. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS CANNER TO MY WORST ENEMY!
