So Versatile and Easy To Use

I love my 17 qt. Presto canner even more than I love my 12 qt. although I use them both. Love being able to stack pints now and to be able to water-bath quarts in it. The new front of the lid location of the regulator is such a blessing for me because I'm short and don't have to get on a step stool to handle it like I have to with the 12 qt. It makes canning so much easier and safer. Love it! Definitely a *****+

I just got my Presto 17-Quart this week. I canned 15 quarts of dry pintos. It was so easy using the new canner. It was hassle free.

I have used this mostly with the water bath method. However, today I tried the pressure canning method and after HOURS of trying I was never able to get it through a whole cycle without either an error or it never gaining enough pressure to start the count down on canning. I tried two different batches of deer meat and now both batches will likely be no good. I have checked and rechecked the seal to make sure it was cleaned and no imperfections.

Broke after 3 weeks!

I purchased the 17 qt electric canner less than 3 weeks ago, and it stopped working correctly after 6 batches. The beeper stopped working, and this is apparently a known problem, yet they continue to sell it. The beeper is what tells you what to do next and when phases are done. It also seems to have an issue with sealing jars placed in the center. I couldn't can 8 jars at a time, much less than 16. It is also a huge and very heavy appliance. I will not put another Presto product.

I received a 17 qt presto from the company and my review is as follows,all the new design changes were first thing I seen vent in front rather than back,no more cage alignment ran to break change on lid design very nice,I water bathed qts all went very well I p canned and all went as should ,only con I can find is weight of it but that has to be to allow for the design to do qts in water bath I will get another one for my canning station,that will give me two 12 qt and two 17 qt

Canner does not work as advertised

Just recently purchased this canner to can fresh salmon. The unit I received does NOT get to proper temp or pressure. Lid leaks steam like a sieve. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS CANNER TO MY WORST ENEMY!

WB quarts and some incredible upgrades!

Excellent upgrade to the Presto precise canner! I have the smaller version as well and will continue to use but it's clear this one has some upgrades and Presto is actively listening to the people!
Being able to waterbath quarts is a huge plus. When I can on my stove, it takes away space for me being able to do other things such as cook dinner, prep more ingredients etc. The precise gave me the option to not have to use my stove...unless I was WB quarts. The new upgrade in size takes care of that problem and I couldn't be happier! If I'm not using my stove for anything else, it means it's not heating my home and in these last summer days, I'm grateful to not push my AC more than I need too.
The first things I noticed were the hardware upgrades. The inner pot itself seems to have had an upgrade. Smooth, super easy to clean and rinses clean in a matter of seconds. The bottom rack is heavier, better material, and after four batches, still no sign of a chemical reaction to the high temperatures. The power cord is longer than the original version which I appreciate as I have limited outlets where the canner will sit. The pressure valve no longer "snaps" into place but just sits right on the valve making it easier to place and reduce questions and possibilities for damage. Presto also listened to their customers who spoke out regarding the volume of the beeps on the original version and increased this volume. My dog doesn't like it, but it's only a few beeps here and there. I absolutely trust presto with their canning products and can't wait to use this more as the harvest season here progresses. Thank you for these upgrades Presto. Fantastic product!
