Great Lock Overall, But HomeKit Setup didn’t work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] recently purchased the Schlage Encode Plus smart lock and while I’m happy with most of its features, I had a really tough time getting it to connect with Apple HomeKit. I bought this lock specifically for the Apple Home Key functionality, but despite several attempts—and following all the instructions—I couldn’t get it to pair properly with the Home app.
That said, the lock itself is well-built and secure. The installation was pretty straightforward mechanically, and the Schlage Home app worked fine once I got past the initial setup hiccups. I’ve been able to manage access codes and monitor activity remotely, which is exactly what I needed.
It’s disappointing that the Apple HomeKit integration didn’t work for me, especially since it’s one of the lock’s main selling points. I’m still hopeful that a future firmware update or a bit more troubleshooting might resolve it, but for now, I’m relying on the Schlage app and manual entry.

I wanted a lock that looked good, worked seamlessly, and gave me peace of mind—and this checks every box.
🔐 Apple Home Key Is a Game-Changer
The Apple Home Key integration is insanely convenient. I can just tap my iPhone or Apple Watch to the lock and boom—it unlocks instantly. I don’t even have to open an app or press a button. If I’m carrying groceries or rushing in with kids or pets, it’s super helpful. And it works even if my phone battery is dead (as long as it has a little power reserve for Apple Pay/Home Key). That’s next-level thoughtful.
🌐 Built-in Wi-Fi = Total Control
I love that it connects directly to Wi-Fi without needing an extra hub. From the Schlage Home app, I can lock and unlock it remotely, see who’s coming and going, and set up unique codes for guests, family, or deliveries. I can even schedule those codes to only work during certain times—perfect for babysitters or cleaners.
🧠 Seamless Smart Home Integration
I’ve integrated it with Apple HomeKit, but it also works with Alexa and Google Assistant. If I forget to lock the door at night, I just say “Hey Siri, lock the front door” and it’s done. It also fits perfectly into my HomeKit scenes—like locking automatically when I say “Goodnight.”

Installation was surprisingly easy. All I needed was a screwdriver and maybe 20 minutes. No hardwiring, no complicated pairing steps. The instructions were straightforward, and everything fit perfectly into my existing deadbolt setup.

It’s not just smart—it’s tough. This lock has Grade 1 ANSI/BHMA security, the highest residential rating. The build feels solid and premium, and the touchscreen keypad is sleek and responsive. I got the Century trim in satin nickel, and it looks amazing on my front door—very clean and modern.

Happy with this Wi-Fi deadbolt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our second Schlage Wi-Fi deadbolt. These work very well for our Airbnb properties. We can give individual tenants a code to access the property and then change the code after they leave. These locks have worked seamlessly for us and the app even notified us once when a tenant left without shutting and locking the door properly.

Setting up codes extremely simple I could even see who arrives at my house and who leaves at what times. This is a lifesaver when you have kids and you’d like to know if they’ve arrived at home and gotten in the house safely. Highly recommend!
