Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Schlage Encode Plus because it was advertised to work with Bluetooth and proximity unlocking. While the lock excels in physical build and setup, the smart features—specifically the hands-free entry—have not lived up to the marketing.
The Good: Design & Installation
* Installation: This is easily one of the most user-friendly locks to install. The instructions are clear, the parts fit perfectly, and I had it mounted and powered up in no time.
* Aesthetics: It is a sharp-looking piece of hardware. It feels premium, looks great on the door, and has a sleek, modern profile.
The Bad: Proximity & Android Support
* Proximity Unlocking: Despite following the setup instructions to the letter, the Bluetooth/proximity unlocking simply does not work. I expected a seamless "walk-up" experience, but the lock fails to recognize my presence or unlock automatically.
* Android Integration: I’m also disappointed in the lack of robust features for the Android ecosystem. Greater Android support and more tailored features for non-iOS users would go a long way in making this a truly universal smart lock.

If you are looking for a sturdy, attractive, and easy-to-install smart lock for manual or keypad use, this is a solid choice. However, if you are buying it specifically for proximity unlocking or expect a feature-rich experience on Android, you may be disappointed. Amazing and convenient lock.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing lock. WiFi connected and allows for piece of mind since you can lock or unlock with your phone. We love the feature to be able to create temporary keys for our guests since we host a bit of events at our place.

Best HomeKit lock worth every dollar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed the Schlage Encode Plus and it’s easily one of the best smart home upgrades I’ve made. Setup was straightforward, and the build quality feels solid compared to cheaper locks. The keypad is responsive, and the auto-lock and unlock features work exactly how they should.
Where this lock really stands out is Apple Home integration. Home Key is a game changer, being able to unlock with my iPhone or Apple Watch without opening an app is seamless. It’s fast, reliable, and actually feels like the future instead of a gimmick.
Wi-Fi connectivity has been stable, and I haven’t had the drop issues I’ve seen with other smart locks. The Schlage app is decent, but honestly once it’s in Apple Home, you won’t use it much.
Security-wise, this feels like a real lock first and a smart device second—which is exactly what you want. It’s sturdy, trusted hardware with smart features layered on top.
If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, don’t overthink it, this is the one to get.
