Six months in and the lock stopped working. It is not the batteries or connectivity, it is the lock. Had to uninstall and reinstall. What a pain.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had never installed an electronic lock before but the instructions were clear and made it easy to install the hardware with the existing holes in the door. The lock itself works wonderfully and it's easy to adjust the settings from the app. If I buy another lock, this will be my first choice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I installed one of these only to find out it was defective. They replaced it but it took another 2 weeks to receive. Installed that one and it also didn’t work until I figured out the batteries weren’t making connection so I adjusted the prongs and it now works. Still can’t get it to pair with Apple Home (the reason I bought this model). Calling support again.

AestheTech - Modern + Capable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Century trim definitely fits my style. The Encode Plus has a bit of a learning curve to it, but what tech doesn't? My advice for Apple device users new to setting up an Encode Plus is to first connect the lock to wifi via the Schlage app as directed, but do not add any additional codes. Connect Apple Home app aka HomeKit next and add user codes there instead. The reason is that codes added in Schlage will not show in Home and consequently uncontrollable from there. The reverse however does occur. Codes added via Home will show in Schlage, albeit displayed as generic count-up (IE: HomeKit-000000000, HomeKit-000000001, etc), but at least they're visible and in progression directly matching the order in which they were added - as listed in the lock settings in Home. Tapping one of the auto generated user names will display the code but the app will tell you to go to Home to manage. This could be better, but I am not knocking anything for it.
Far more important drawbacks to Schlage: No exterior USB port to power the lock in case of dead battery pack. Highly advise to still carry a physical key or grant an external keyholder (IE: trusted neighbor or nearby friend/relative/coworker) if no alternate point of entry exists or risk complete lockout.
Honest Review - This is my second publicly displayed detail feedback of this lock and was incentivized via Schlage app popup prompt to asking to enter into their annual giveaway. No compensation has or is guaranteed to be received by participating; only a chance of winning.
I definitely like Schlage and have stuck with them for a decade & 1/2 primarily due to their consistent ratings as one of the top manufacturers of physically strong residential locks available on the market in the United States. That alone isn't enough in these modern times of new smart tech, so they have to keep up.
Final Future Notes: Smart camera tech eyed and has now landed in the door lock market. Schlage ABSOLUTELY MUST integrate a camera or be left behind in the dust! I hope they've been working on this because there are already dozens of choices readily available on Amazon. This even includes smart locks for sliding glass patio doors - Something that Schlage currently has ZERO options for in the first place and is a major oversight. It is NOT an insignificant niche any residential lock company can afford to completely ignore. I haven't found 'the one' but the offerings are definitely growing...
Schlage, I have been loyal and very supportive, but you definitely have some work to do!
