not the vacuum for us. does not work on high pile carpet, so we must return. also, i have issues with my shoulder and i couldn't not handle the weight of the machine for more than 10 minutes. we are waiting for a return response from dyson, and communication has been non-existent and we only have 30 days. we will keep trying to return it! we are going back to a canister vacuum for all reasons.

Im enjoying the new vacuum cleaner very much,I cant believe how much debris is left from my other brand Thank you Dyson for your great products.im also enjoying my blow dryer.
I bought this vacuum for my daughter for an early Christmas gift. They really needed a vacuum and were so happy to receive it. unfortunately the vacuum came with the wrong shaft, or was missing an intermediate part to assemble it . On a phone call with Dyson the final solution was for them To repack the vacuum, mail It back and now they are waiting for a new vacuum. Not exactly a nice surprise, and then they needed to pack it up, mail it and now wait for a new one . I'm sure it will be a great vacuum once they actually have one that fits together .

Very Disappointed! I want my V8 back!

Wow, if I had any idea how hard it was going to be to use this vacuum, I would never have wasted my money. This is my FIFTH Dyson stick vacuum. I used to love them. This one is the worst. I have three dogs with long fur. I have to empty the bin multiple times every time i vacuum. The V8 was so easy! Just go over to the trashcan, hit the lever and everything came out. The V15 you have to remove the tube EVERY TIME and it does NOT come off easy! And even though I am emptying before the debris level gets to the line, the fur get tangled up in the motor portion beyond the flimsy rubber gasket. So vacuuming takes twice as long as it ever did before and I am sore and exhausted and the whole trash can area is a dusty mess and my hands are filthy. And boy, do I miss the GREAT motorized upholstery brush that came with the V8. The one that came with the V15 is a "corkscrew" style with no bristles at all. It leaves every dog hair behind. What a disappoinment, Dyson.

We would expect that emptying the dust bin empties in the same manner as your previous cord-free models. Once the bin base door has been opened, all the debris should easily fall out of the bin as long as it's consistently being emptied before debris can fill past the max fill line. If it's able to fill beyond that point, it can wind up accumulating around the top of the cyclone. The new hair screw tool has been designed with an anti-tangle conical brush bar which picks up long hair and pet hair. When making improvements to tools or machines, we do take feedback provided from our owners into account, to ensure we're consistently making technology that makes sense.

Great vacuum

Purchased about 3 weeks ago. The cleaning attachments are impressive. Laser on hard surface is just great, suction is the best I have experienced with a cordless unit. Happy customer. Had one small issue with laser power head. The plastic cap on right side fell off when vacuuming. Was maybe not attached properly from new. Put it back on and everything seems fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Needs a switch, not a trigger

The weight of the unit means that it needs a switch, holding the trigger is wearing the skin on my finger into a blister. I’m considering a return.

Hello Scott, this is Kelly with Dyson. We can confirm that the Dyson V15 Detect™ models, along with the majority of our other cord-free machines, does have a light touch trigger that does need to be held down, in order to power the machine. The only cord-free technology that we offer with an on/off switch would be the Omni-Glide™ model, or any of the V12™ machines.
We would certainly not expect a blister to occur as a result of using your Dyson product. If you are finding this to be your experience, we would recommend holding the unit lower down the handle to prevent rubbing or pressure on the top of your hand. Please also keep in mind that Dyson cordless vacuums will feature a runtime enhancing light touch trigger, which requires little pressure to run the unit as well. It may also prove helpful to ensure the unit is held with a firm, but not a very tight grasp, given that the light touch trigger does not require a very hard press or grasp to operate. If we can ever be of assistance with anything else, please do not take to let us know.
