We bought our V15 Detect for the strong suction and battery life. It's great for floors, but it is removing the pile from our carpet, i.e., the carpet head is overly aggressive, even with the suction at minimum and the setting that leaks air. Unfortunately there does not seem to be an alternate head that is less rough on our carpet, so we can only use the V15 for floors.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought the Dyson V15 last month and, so far, were very happy with it. It has excellent suction and filtration. The dirt canister is very easy to empty and clean. And we absolutely LOVE the green laser light that illuminates the area being vacuumed!
Our only complaint is that there isn’t an on and off switch. To run the vacuum you have to continually pull on the trigger, which is annoying and can become uncomfortable if cleaning a large area. And, since the trigger is in the handle, you often accidentally activate it when taking the vacuum out of the charging station or putting it back in. Otherwise, great vacuum!

The V15 is a MAJOR step up from the V10. The “night vision” (laser dirt illuminated) is dazzling. It lets you see everything. We’re glad we bought this vacuum.

The Dyson suction is so great! I think my old vacuum must have been just terrible at getting up dirt and pet hair because I’m getting so much with the new Dyson that I’m having to empty it after every room! I feel like my house is finally getting a good cleaning!

I love the green light and attachment that shows dust and dirt as I vacuum. I don’t like the rug attachment; suction, even when adjusted is strong and difficult to vacuum efficiently. And please tell me why I have to keep my finger on the go trigger?!! It would have been so simple to have a tab to hold that in place. And cleaning is not efficient. You need a small brush to remove all the debris at the top.

We have an older Dyson and this new one is so much better for cat and dog hair on hard wood floors and carpet. Hard wood floors with the green light is amazing and shows just what is there, scary.
