We tried a similar style, less expensive, vacuum from a competing brand and it really wasn't the same. We had to break down and get the Dyson. It's really in a whole different league. Build quality, suction power, battery life and user experience are all top notch.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I’m not impressed with this vacuum. Just an FYI—if you have rooms or rugs with thicker carpet, you’ll need a different attachment, which is sold separately at a pretty high price

Disappointing

I bought this vacuum because it was cordless and had good power. I was also impressed by the green light dust detector however I found that the hardwood floor head with the green light was of little or no use in actually sucking up the dust.
As reviewed by others the handle is super uncomfortable to use for more than five minutes. The large head works fine for sucking up bits on the floor, but leaves significant dust behind, necessitating the green head to vacuum the floor a second time. I was really hoping i could walk barefoot on a clean wood floor, but using this vacuum does not deliver that.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bad battery

I bought a new Dyson about a year ago and the battery is already hone bad. I live alone and don't use it often. I was so disappointed when it went bad

Love the power and visual detection of materials vacuumed. However, wish power button was not always needed to hold to keep power on. Person with early arthritis sometime difficult to hold continuously.
This vacuum has good suction, excellent handheld attachments, and it is not too heavy when using it with those attachments. The one flaw would be that you need to hold the power button down the whole time you are vacuuming. This can be resolved by purchasing a “button holder” on the Internet
I bought this and while I love the power and versatility, constantly holding the trigger caused my arthritis in my hand to flare up. I decided the gen5 was a better option so i returned this one.

I upgraded from a v8 to this v15. It definitely lasts much longer on a charge which is a nice plus. We had to google how to insert the longer piece into the handle as it’s a bit tricky. Because of the longer battery life it is heavier on my wrist. This does cause me some discomfort. I’m a senior with arthritis. I bought this online so didn’t think about this issue. It is a very good vacuum and I highly recommend it just not for me. I will find another lighter weight one. It will be a Dyson though. This was my 4th one and they are well made.
