Worst thermostat I ever used

I can not register my product without consenting to things I should not have to consent to. I will NOT allow you to connect to my WiFi and hack or provide an outlet for others to hack into my other devices through your unsecured servers, apps, software, websites, etc. The device is overly complicated. It is too large and ugly. The fingerprints on the hideous touch screen are just lovely. Again, worst thermostat I have ever used in my 50+ years.

Only lasted 3 years

Thermostat came with our new home and worked great for 3 years. Now the app says the thermostat isn’t connected to WiFi, when it is, the thermostat gave an error that I had to register it before it would work via the app (3 years after it was registered and working), and multiple addition errors about not being connected. I’ve reconnected to my WiFi multiple times, registered the thermostat (again), and still can’t use it. WiFi still works for every other device in our home. Never had a thermostat fail after only 3 years until this one.

This thermostat does not hold a WiFi signal. Very touchy. Always disconnecting. Not worth the price or trouble

I am an HVAC professional and i have one of these thermostats in my home. i was reading through the reviews and quite frankly they are maddening. the complaints of failure i can't speak to. We use them all the time and we have high reliability with them. These thermostats are very versatile and meet a wide range of applications. They should not be sold to "weekend warriors" ,who are not HVAC pros. Don't buy one on line if you are not mechanically or electronically inclined. The person who complained about the thermostat losing its program while away and (no battery backup) probably is running the thermostat on the batteries in the thermostat which are replaceable. The batteries draining is probably due to the fact that the HVAC system they have in place does not have enough wires to the thermostat from the HVAC equipment to operate the thermostat on the system power, so it is running on the internal batteries the batteries can be used to power the thermostat if there are not enough wires to operate the thermostat or just a lazy installing contractor that did not connect the "common" wire to the thermostat. The thermostat is WIFI enabled, why don't they connect occasionally and check it. If you have a total connect account the thermostat will send you an alerts when the batteries run low. another complaint about losing WIFI signal is most likely as the Honeywell Tech guy said, poor WIFI connection in your house. I have gotten the same alerts when my home WIFI was an issue. The thermostat could be too far away from the home router or too many obstructions between the two devices. Yes, the thermostat is not easy for a novas to install and program, that's why it's called a "PRO" thermostat, but once its installed and connected to your home WIFI system it is easy to adjust with your cell phone. So don't give equipment a bad wrap because you don't understand it or its above your experience level. I could go on and debunk a lot of these complaints, but I digress, they are not for armatures to install!
Good day,

1st one was garbage. 2nd one also garbage. HVAC company installed it. Doesn't hold settings at all. Set temp at 76 goes to 80 by itself. Set humidity to 60% but make humidity level 28%. Set humidity to 55% then read out is 30%. Hate it!!! Has mind of its own. Won't follow settings. Sucks!!!

I have that device now for a few weeks, lost connection after 2 days, reconnected many times, doesn't help. Device says it's connected, app says NO. Support only available if you're willing to wait more than 90 minutes. Contractor installed it with brand new A/C, now I need to get him to replace it with something useful.

LOST WI-FI CONNECTION

After just days before our 3rd year of having service with our thermostat and wi-fi, we lost connect and can not get it back. Our password is correct and says it connects, the gives us an error that the device is not registered. It is registered and I can figure out how to resolve the problem. This means the screen will not show the outside temperature and humidity any longer and I assume we will not get our usage emails and longer. Any suggestions on what to do next would be helpful.

WOW I have had a Honeywell RTH9580WF1005 for many years and never has had any issues. On 10/20/23 I had all new a/c heat system installed that came with the Vision Pro 8000. They talked me into installing the VP8000 saying it was a better thermostat. WRONG! This thing keeps showing a sensor error with a message to contact the dealer for thermostat replacement. ?Whats up with this crap. Only 2 days and is gave this error twice now and shuts the system down. I can not find any info online for this error. I have to disconnect the thermostat from the wall and plug it back in to get it to go away. Then it sits at Waiting on system for about 10 minutes.

Hi Cliff W, this is not what you should expect. We recommend you having the installer checking the thermostat configuration, it is possible that they configured it for sensors but it doesn't have any. They will be able to verify this and replace the unit in case that it is necessary.
