Very surprised at the poor hinge on this product. The hinge is so tight that when you go to close the Rugged Book, my Ipad actually comes out of the hinge assembly. I bought a previous Rugged Book some years ago for an earlier version IPad and was great. This product is unusable.

I really do love the keyboard. Streamlines all my work, and makes the apple operating systems far more user friendly. However, a couple weeks in, and my "D" button seems to be malfunctioning. Key becomes difficult to press down. Unsure of how severe of an issue this will become

Purchased this for my Mother-in-Law when her laptop was at "end-of-life".
We had gotten her an iPad a year or so ago, but she had trouble using it and would than use her laptop.
I talked to her and showed her how it would work and asked if she would give it a try, to which she agreed.
I set it up with her iPad and she's been using it since
She is very happy with it and actually likes it better than her laptop (smaller/easier to carry, etc.)

I’m usually a big fan of all Zagg products but this one was disappointing. I found it difficult to bend the hinge - was concerned I would break it. When we went to close it, the top piece are off - it would not stay in one piece to protect the iPad. Sadly, I returned it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very well built. I’m on my 2nd ruggedbook after finally wearing out one of the hinges on my first one; no doubt from repeated drops that no doubt save my iPad, which was the intent of the purchase

Unfortunately, the hinge is not very durable. This current hinge is better than the first version. I even took extra care when opening and closing the rugged book. However, after three or four years, the hinge started getting stiff to open and close and then finally failed entirely.
