They removed features (like the charging port cover) from the previous model that made the previous model so much superior over this one. The pencil holder is too big as the OEM Apple Pencil falls out of it if tilted or upside down. The redesign was a poor decision except with the new touch button. You couldn’t really do much with that. The back material is too slippery. Who tested this redesign?? It’s overpriced in my opinion. I’ll only buy another one if I find a good discounted deal or good sale. Otterbox makes one (Achiever Series) that can be more expensive depending on the keyboard language you pick but its design makes ZAGG design look like stage 1 draft with the final product several stages away. The Otterbox design isn’t without its issues; however, I own both. ZAGG and Otterbox are really the only two real competitors. There are vendors that make cheap holders with keyboards and I’ve tested several but I would want to drop them on anything harder than a mattress.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hinge Clip Durability Issue

I have purchased two rugged books for my Apple iPad...one in Dec 2021 and the other in Nov 2022. The product is great with one exception. The hinge clip that holds the tablet does not hold up. It cracks after about 12-18 months and no longer securely holds the tablet in place. I otherwise love the functionality and tablet protection, but cannot justify investing in another unit at this point if it only will last 12 months.

I bought this because of the fact that it latches in rather than a magnetic connection. This has been a great case for my ipad pro third generation. The connections in latching INR very secure where it would does not fall over. Thank you also much.
I love the fact that it has a tablet mode where you can actually flip the ipad around and secure it without any worries about damage. I like the fact that you can turn the keyboard on and off.

Great quality

I have been really enjoying this case. I love the look and feel of a laptop computer with my IPAD and this case delivers. The case fits like a glove and completely protects my device. All ports are easy to access. I work in a medical clinic and often times need to have this resting on my lap but all other cases I have tried topple over or slide off my lap but NOT this one. There is a little bit of delay with getting the keyboard activated if I haven’t been using it for awhile but doesn’t bother me and it’s really only like 2-3 seconds. The backlit function is nice and not too overwhelming when you are in the dark, 3 sets with this and multiple colors. Pencil fits in quite snugly so I don’t have to worry about losing it. The keyboard is very easy to type on which is a must for me.

Definetly like its name Rugged book little tricky to learn keyboard keys to turn on backlight and change color for keys as I looked up support for keyboard and it explains how to use combo of keys I will print that out. The pencil connected well as the keyboard to my Apple 11 M3.

Noisy space bar

I had a rugged book to complete my old iPad and really liked it, especially because it made my iPad portable and good for taking minutes at meetings. I bought this new rugged book for my new iPad, but, while the keys are fairly quiet to type on, the space bar is noisy. I called customer support. The representative checked with his supervisor and I was told that’s the way it is and they didn’t offer to replace or repair it. This makes this rugged book less useful for going to meetings, because of the distraction it will cause. It also means I’ll probably have to shop around for a new keyboard. What a shame after having such a good experience with the previous keyboard.

The book does as advertised. I’ve unfortunately dropped my iPad a couple of times on accident and it has protected my iPad perfectly. I have no issues on functions, keyword is spot on and it makes using functions of my iPad flow effortlessly. The problem with this is solely for me, appearance. This product scoffs and scratches very easy and it is very noticeably. Be careful as to what surfaces you set it down on, because it will show scratches, blemishes, and scraps in the finish of the product. I know it’s a tough book but it can look unattractive quickly, please have a space in your bag or backpack separate for this. I’ve had to place some stickers on it.

This is a very sturdy keyboard cover for a new Apple iPad Air. I would say though, that it has added a lot of bulk and weight to something that began as slim and lightweight. For me, that’s a bit of a negative. I’m pretty sure you could drop, but never break, your iPad with this cover over it though.
