Excellent value

First off, it's a beautiful machine. Piano black finish is sharp one of the best looking printers out there. Secondly, out of the box I was printing beautiful pictures, scanning, making copies, all in about 30 minutes. Set up was a breeze on my Mac book pro. I have checked around and ink is readily available from several stores in my area. Print speed is awesome for a printer in this price range. All in all an excellent value, you won't be sorry you bought this printer.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use, beautiful finish
I would recommend this to a friend!

More Quality, For Less Money

I have always been a firm believer in you get what you pay for. After reviewing numerous other printers from the other brands, this ended up as a no brainer. By far and away the best printer, bar none! I have owned Canon products for over 10 years, and I am more impressed with this product than any I have owned before. I will post the pros, and cons. Then you can make the call.
Pros: ease of initial set up, numerous valuable features, phenomenal high gloss photo quality, energy star rated, mac and pc compatible with the latest versions, ease of ink cartridge replacement, highly customizable to fit your needs, upgradable through canon
Cons: the speed of the printer is slightly slower., that is intended to make sure of smooth printing

Like getting a printer for FREE

My other printer was running low on ink, so I went in search of ink. One of the results listed this MG5220 printer. So, for the price of replacement printer ink, I also got this MG5220 printer in the deal.
So, I now have a wireless printer that uses the same ink as my older Canon, plus it has Duplex printing, same as my older Canon printer.
Would I recommend this printer? Yes, indeed I would.

Great Printer

Contrary to other reviews, we have never had a problem with color ink being used while printing black. The separate ink cartridges, cost and ink longevity (ChromaLife 100+) are why I stuck with Canon, and this printer allows the separate larger black ink with the photo black.
The initial load to start a scan or print can take longer than expected, but it isn't below average. The footprint really is respectable for a multi-function with separate feed source options.
I wouldn't recommend this model if you are heavy on photo printing. It's great for the occasional pictures, but for overall photo quality you should look up a couple models to get the extra photo ink options for better quality.
For the price and features, this is a great unit. It has been solid for the past year and a half, and look forward to more use.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use

We were pleasantly surprised as to the quality of the photographs this product produces. You can't tell the difference between one printed on this printer and the ones you would have printed at the store. I would definitely recommend this product!
Pros: Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use

Wait of time and money

My husband and I are mac users, in technology-centered fields and are quite fluent in installations and usage of various programs. We have never had such a poor experience with a printer/scanner ever! On countless occasions we have wasted hours of our time trying to get it to produce a simple scan or ONE print out to no avail. The wireless does not work. The ink has run on various projects. Customer service is awful at best.
We went with Canon since we just had a baby and wanted to be able to print high quality photos form home often. This was a huge disappointment. I hope I can find the receipt. It would be wonderful of Canon held up to its reputation and refunded our money, replaced the unit with a better one, or sent a rep out to our home to look at the unit. There is little to no assistance online.
I can't even begin to talk about how we regret this purchase.
Cons: take your pick

This is absolutely terrible. Everything about this thing screams glitchy, from the Wifi connection, to actual printing. I got this thing when I started college...it worked for a grand total of THREE DAYS. I spent hours trying to figure out what I could do to fix it (It WILL NOT print from my computer using wifi and it DID NOT come with a USB to print it that way) I enter the correct password for my router into the piece of junk and it keeps telling me it is wrong and won't connect to ANYTHING.
Pros: pretty, good book end, nice for stacking things.
Cons: doesn't connect to wifi, pain in the butt to update, no usb with the device, loud, makes earthquakes when it prints, worked for less than a week, can't print word documents off a flash drive, can only print certain sized pdfs???
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
