this printer i works great and is a replacement and would tell all my friends to buy this printer or buy a new cannon printer

I had this printer almost 5 years and it worked great in all it's functions. I was very disappointed when it suddenly stopped working b/c of an error message that the print head was incorrect. I looked up on youtube on how to clean the printhead and followed the directions. It then worked fine for another month or two but then suddenly stopped again with the same error code. Tried cleaning it again several time with no luck. A new printerhead would cost more than what I paid for it. So, I ended up getting another Canon printer, a laser one this time B&W only. But the MG5220 was a very good printer for us.

I received my Pixma MG5220 as a gift in December 2011 and was very surprised that such a small machine could do all the things I needed/wanted it to do and do them well. From the start I was scanning, printing documents and photos, downloading and printing important documents for posterity and for "proof" should the need arise. I planned and executed Family Reunions, weddings, birthday parties, all manner of social functions using my little 5220 to print all manner of invitations, schedules, to do lists, budgets, newsletters - EVERYTHING! Then, suddenly without warning, on the 28th of July of this year it collapsed under the weight of yet another reunion in process and no manner of coaxing, begging, or troubleshooting would bring my little Pixma back. She was just flat worn out after five years of working her heart out she just up and gave up the ghost. I was devastated! So, I called Canon Support and they were GREAT, they helped me pick out a new model of my little Pixma (an MG5721), gave me a "loyalty" price break to boot, and shipped it right out to me! Now it will probably never be my Little MG5220 but I've got to say that so far, she's a chip off the old block. But time will tell and in the meantime, I will miss that litle 5220 - she was the BEST!
