[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The unit looks nice, it compact, and the controls are easy to use. However, there is a spring-loaded detent that prevents the top from moving freely when making paninis or grilled sandwiches. You have to manually release the top by pushing it down and past the detent to allow the unit to work properly. I was going to order the waffle plates, but with the way the unit is designed they would all turn out lopsided.

Great in theory, needs some improvement

I bought this late last year and have used it many times. I like the convenience of being able to put the plates in the dishwasher. For the most part, we like it. However, the top plate doesn’t seem to get as hot as the bottom when using as a press. And when using it in the open position, it gets hot at first but doesn’t retain the heat at all. It takes much longer to cook because I’m constantly waiting for it to heat back up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
