This is the second Griddler I owned - the first being the first generation Griddler Jr. - and it is the star in my kitchen. I keep it out on my counter because I use it every day. It cooks up chicken tenders in no time at all, makes paninis for the granddaughters, and with a flip of the switch, I have a grill for French toast on the weekends. Clean-up is easy with the removable nonstick plates, and they also can go in the dishwasher. This small appliance proves it’s worth to me every day. Note: If making panini-type sandwiches with regular bread, just closing the top on the bread can squash the bread. My very easy solution was to buy two large metal washers. When I have a sandwich of this type, I put one on each side of the bottom plate so the top plate can’t close all the way. It still grills the sandwich without squashing the sandwich, and my granddaughters think I make the best sandwiches ever.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was debating the purchase of an air fryer/oven combo, or a small toaster oven. A friend has a griddler and loves it. And when I thought it all through, for the price I think it made sense for me: I don’t have a lot of space in my kitchen. As a single person, to turn on the oven’s broiler or to fuss with a stovetop frying pan for searing or browning, this appliance made sense. Glad I bought it! I use the grilling option for fish, grilling vegetables, “broiling” chicken, and I even grilled perfect scallops the other night. I used the flat side to briefly warm tortillas, as a test, and I was surprised how well it warmed and toasted corn toritillas ! This thing is versatile and sensible. Contrary to what I thought, it does not dry out fish, or make chicken tough (I have cooked both breasts and legs). There is something of a learning curve, but it is not difficult to learn how to cook with it, and your instinct for how the grill and griddle cooks food develops quickly. The grill cleans up easily, and fat (when applicable) drains into the small reservoir for easy disposal. I may end up with a convection/toaster oven, but this a wonderful purchase for me.

I am disappointed that the top does not lie flat as advertised. It is impossible to cook eggs or pancakes as they will slide to the side. The regular grill function works extremely well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I received this as a gift. It works as it is supposed to although I haven't put the grease trap to the test. It's not something I would have bought though, as there is nothing that I can't do with a plain ol skillet. I dont particularly see any added convenience as it's easier to grab a skillet and put it on the stove than dig this out, put it on the counter, plug it in, figure out the right heat setting, take it apart, clean it and put it back together. A good skillet does all this and with cast iron I don't have to worry about potential 'non stick' toxicity.
