I bought this product earlier this year, but I have to say, for the 1st time, I am terribly disappointed in a Cuisinart product. I bought it primarily for the waffle iron feature, but after using it for a while & hoping I could make it work, it just does not get hot enough on the top plate to make a golden brown waffle. I end up overcooking them. The top plate for all of the ways to use it just does not rise to the occasion either. Bottom plate gets hot enough, so maybe I got a faulty unit? I chose this product based on other customer reviews and most of them are positive. Just thought you should know.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor heat retention and too small

We had the smokeless grill/griddle and it died so we bought this one as a replacement. The grill area is too small, the picture online is quite deceptive, I am able to cook maybe 3 eggs on it, and cooking eggs and pancakes is only frustrating. The heat is not reliable or steady, making cooking difficult. I am very disappointed in this purchase.

I was really excited to find an all in one, griddle plus panini press, with an option to add waffle plates later on. I usually get CuisineArt products based on their reliability and quality, however, not so much with this one.

The griddle doesn't get hot enough, even at the highest temperature! So you end up with unevenly cooked pancakes, or they take forever to cook, which was my experience.
The griddle feature is a nice idea, but forget making eggs or omelettes. The design of the plates causes the liquid egg mixture to slide right out into the catch tray. Why wouldn't anyone test this prior to release?

I am having the same problem as other people below. The top side does not get hot enough, impossible to make waffles, they turn up good on the bottom side and uncooked/soggy on the top and if you try to use it as a griddle then again the difference is obvious, items in the bottom side are being cooked while they are still row on the plate that is at the top part. Very dissapointed.
