I've had this GW7 for about two weeks now, upgrading from the GW4 (which has been fantastic since day 1). The interface is really nice and smooth and fluid, and it's clear there's been a lot of work done with Wear OS in the past couple of years. If you've previously owned and loved a Samsung watch, this one will only grow that love even more.
The device itself is mostly physically unchanged from the previous non-Classic or Ultra models, and your old watch bands (20mm) will fit the 7, as well as a few of the cases. It feels like it weighs the same and definitely fits the same as previous models, so you know it's comfortable when worn.
The updated Wear OS 5 with OneUI 6 is great. It feels snappy and by and large it looks much the same as previous versions, with the exception of a vastly-updated PIN unlock screen. Suffice to say that the software is maturing very well under Samsung and Google's combined efforts.
I don't use a Samsung phone so there are a few features I don't get access to. Primarily it's the AI features that I lack exposure to. Typically the Blood Pressure and ECG functions wouldn't be supported, either, but there is a pretty simple way around that if you have a Pixel or other non-Samsung phone.
Charging this device seems to take just as long as previous models, so there's not a lot of advancement in this category. The charger puck now comes with a USB-C connection rather than the USB-A from the days of old.
There are a lot of reasons that I am glad I upgraded, and with a great deal, I feel like I got a stellar watch and experience.
Poor battery life .. new watch and still it drains in a day. Have to recharge it daily.

I've had this watch for over a month now. The battery last about 18 hours. 24 hours if the raise wrist and touch screen to wake is off. The speaker quality could be better but its not bad. I like the fact that it tracks the sleep cycles without an added price like fitbit. My biggest problem is the step counter.
I got the device to track my sleep and my steps. I needed to replace my fitbit and figured to go with a galaxy watch since I have the Samsung 24 ultra. There are times where I will place my watch in my pocket while I'm moving. And after a couple of times, I notice that the watch does not pick up on any steps if it's in a pocket. Which is a bummer. My fitbit would track all movement even if it was clip to my shirt collar.
As far as the sleep tracker, it's something but it's not as intuitive as the fitbit sleep tracker. With fitbit, their devices pick up on any sleep down to the minute. It's would record any naps I may have took unlike the galaxy watch. The fitbit would allow me to see the exact time I went through a sleep stage, the galaxy watch doesn't. The fitbit would know exactly when I wake up. The galaxy watch only register that I am awake once I unlock my cell phone.
So overall it's a decent fitness tracker. If fitbit tracked the sleep cycle without a premium subscription I would have stayed with them.

Thanks for the feedback on the Galaxy Watch7, Sam. We always appreciate hearing from our customers and getting your feedback. The Galaxy Watch 7 is available in two case sizes: 44mm and 40mm and is crafted from armor aluminum with a sapphire crystal for enhanced durability. It is powered by a 3nm processor with five cores and comes with a battery capacity of 425mAh for the larger model and 300mAh for the smaller one. There are several reasons why your Galaxy Watch may be experiencing decreased battery life. Certain apps can lead to increased battery consumption, so it's important to diagnose the issue. If your watch is paired with a Samsung phone, you can use the Samsung Members app to perform a battery diagnostic; a successful test indicates the battery is in good condition. To optimize performance, ensure all your apps are updated, as bugs can cause excessive battery drain. Additionally, regularly updating your software is essential for maintaining efficiency. Check out the link we provided for additional options to optimize your watch's battery life. We're glad to see that your watch has helped you effectively track sleep cycles. Regarding the step counter, steps are not counted when there is no hand movement during exercise. For example, steps may not be recorded while pushing a lawn mower or cart because your hands are not moving. The watch is designed to accurately calculate real step counts while walking. Check out the link attached for additional tips to help get accurate step tracking. Products sold by Samsung are warranted against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for the limited 12-month warranty period specified for each product. We also provide the option to add additional coverage with Samsung Care+ on eligible devices, which offers extended protection and additional support. If you continue to experience these challenges, please be sure to reach out to us at Samsung Support so that we can further assist you. -Kelvin https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01003112/#inaccurate-step-factors-on-your-samsung-smart-watch (step tracking) https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01003232/ (battery) smsng.us/Samsung-Support smsng.us/Facebook-Messenger smsng.us/X-Messages smsng.us/Samsung-Community smsng.us/Warranty-Info smsng.us/Samsung-Care-Plus

A solid upgrade from the GW4

Super happy with the purchase of The Galaxy Watch 7 44mm LTE model that I upgraded from my Previous GW4-44mm LTE. The GW7 is a major upgrade with screen real estate (minimal bezels on the 7 compared to the 4), brightness is superb especially outdoors in the bright sun, battery life has been solid, the rubber style watch band it comes with is easy on my skin BUT, like most rubber watch bands, it's a little too tight on the skin especially when working out. The watch Itself has been comfortable to wear to bed and throughout the day with no issues, and so far, the watch has not over-heated like my previous GW4 would.
I'm excited to keep using this on the daily, I will update in the future as I use this more and get more familiar with its features.
I would recommend this to a friend!

No Charger included!

I was disappointed that this watch did not come with a charger. I asked via chat about this after receiving the watch and was only offered a quick link for my cart to purchase a full priced charger. This is very odd. It was not even mentioned during check out that the charger was optional. Maybe I missed the fine print, but I was very disappointed. This is not how I thought Samsung would conduct business.

Bought this watch 3 months ago, very disappointed with the battery life. My previous watch 5 battery last longer than this watch 7. Fully charged @9am and 50% battery gone before 5pm :( I turned off watch with 18% battery the other night and the next morning - battery totally out, not able to turn it on.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with the Galaxy Watch7, Lang. We always appreciate the feedback we get from our customers. The Watch7 has a rated capacity of 425 mAh for the 44mm model and 300 mAh for the 40mm model. Actual battery life may vary depending on network conditions, usage patterns, and other factors. The new 3nm processor enhances your daily routine and optimizes battery life, ensuring that the Galaxy Watch7 keeps up with you. If you're noticing battery drain or reduced life, certain apps may be consuming more power. If the watch is paired with a Samsung phone, you can use Samsung Members to run a diagnostic test on the battery; if it passes, the battery is likely in good condition. Also, make sure to keep your apps and software updated, as outdated versions can lead to increased battery usage. Be sure to check out the link attached for options to help optimize your watch's battery life.
