The hardware on this phone is spectacular. The screen is durable, bright, and vibrant. The screen dpi is 274. The processor is fast and agile and runs great. The battery life is pretty good. However all this doesn't matter because the software is still stuck at Android 2.1 and compatibility especially with newer apps is an issue.
I would love to write a glowing review of how I love this phone but one main issue is stopping me... lack of support. Since I bought this phone December of 2010 they have had not Android updates and it doesn't appear they intend to. This phone was basically out of date the moment I walked out of the store. Friends who bought other brands of phones at the same time are running 2.2 or even 2.3 but no, we're stuck with slow glitchy 2.1 for the next 2 years of my contract. I have to say I love the design, the screen is great and vibrant.
The phone is good quality and the ticker is a nice feature. But manufacture software updates are NON-EXISTENT!!
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, no 2.2 update, poor app support
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

All in all, this is a good phone. I have no idea how it has been out for so long and has not been updated to 2.2. The only difference between this and the Droid 2 is this only has 2gigs of on-board memory and the Droid 2 has 8gigs. There is no reason way this can't or isn't being updated to 2.2. This is my 3rd Android phone and is by far the worst battery life (only getting about 4-5hrs).Hopefully when 2.2 come to it, it'll have an automatic task killer to save battery life like the Droid 2. Besides no 2.2 and the battery life, this is the best phone for your money, GREAT SCREEN, GREAT CAMERA, Fast and smooth running. Would love to see a Moto-blur type interface for Facebook/social networks but still does the job. The ticker is AWESOME and I love how you can grab the bottom of the screen and only wake the ticker and not the whole phone..
I like this phone. Just two complaints. The battery needs to last a little longer and the Android operating system is old. The newest version is 2.3 and this still has 2.1. You should at least upgrade your customers to 2.2. 2.1 doesn't fully support push notifications, and this is a great feature that many apps now have. Come on Samsung, get with it and update your software for this phone.
When I first got this phone about 9 months ago I thought it was the best thing ever. I still really like the features like the ability to record Video in HD is sweet! The Still camera works very well also. I also really like how the whole phone is layed out. Very easy to use. (my 2 1/2 year old can navigate through it like nobodys business. I LOVE the ticker display most of the time. its nice to see a preview of your incoming emails and text messages without unlocking the phone. (the only bummer was when i synced my Facebook account to the phone i constantly was getting ALL of my "friends" status updates in the little Ticker display window which drained my phones battery in about half a day) So I un-synced it. The other big bummer I didn't realize until just recently was that this phone runs on the 2.1 android version (the new one is 2.2) which doesn't allow you to download many of the better apps. :-(
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, hd video recording
Cons: runs on 2.1 os
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing design, something fresh

This phone is pretty amazing. I wasn't too sure of buying it but the style, design and features are what attracted me. Once I actually got a chance to use the phone first hand I was blown away. The screen is beautiful, it is pretty fast, the ticker display in it's own deserves its own review. Overall I am glad I purchased it. The only problem I do have with it, is the phones capability to sync with social networks. It seemed to go fine when I first synced but now I get a constant notification saying that the sync has failed. Hopefully that is just a bug that will be fixed sometime soon in the near future. Other than the syncing issue I love this phone and I do not regret purchasing it.
I like the ticker, but i think there should be a way to filter what comes through IE i like over 100 things on Facebook but i don't want news on everything that i liked. processor is a little slow freezes when i multi task. battery get hot.
