Best Phone EVER!

This Phone is as the title says, the best phone I have ever owned, and that is saying something. The Ticker is probably the coolest feature on this device. When an Email/Text/Facebook Msg/Twitter update comes in all you have to do is just hit the ticker and there you are looking at the Msg! Not Fiddling around in the menu trying to get to it. Saves lots of time and is very efficient. With the 1 Ghz processor in the Continuum everything loads in a snap. Being used to the normal BB start up time (to those BB users out there, no offense.) I was at awe when this thing got up and took off with me attached to it. This phone out of the box is set for just about any user to take it for a joy ride. The ease of access and use of this device is astonishing. Though I had to ding it one star at design because of a struggle to get music set as ring tones. (which i found out later at the actual music player can you set music to ring tones.) But other than that everything was almost self-explanatory. (this coming from a moderate tech geek, your results may very.) As far as the price is concerned depends on if you buy it straight, or go for a plan price. Over all i'm very impressed with what Samsung dropped in my hands. With phones like these, Makes me want to see what else Samsung has to offer. =)
Reading reviews for this phone really doubted whether I should get this phone for my upgrade, the big reason is that it is only running the Android platform 2.1, which is the primary reason that all the cons to my review exist. With 2.1 the battery life is only okay and a system update to 2.2 would greatly increase battery life, support flash player for the internet, and will let you access a lot more apps off the market that require 2.2 or higher. I am very disappointed to the Samsung development team for making a 2.2 build for this phone but not releasing it.
On the other hand there are so many good things about this phone that make me very happy with my decision to get this phone. I love the AMOLED display with its super bright screen that you can see even in direct sun light. This phone has a super quick 1Ghz Hummingbird processor and of course you have access to the thousands of apps off the android market. I thought that being a guy with bigger thumbs will be difficult to text but it is actually very easy with the 3.4 in screen. The ticker is very handy and doesn't interrupt what you're doing if a call or text message comes. Has a very nice camera with a super bright flash.
Overall I would recommend this phone to anyone its very easy to use. Only problem is that Samsung needs to update this headset to 2.2.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight, ultra fast processor
Cons: out-dated os
I would recommend this to a friend!

I Love This Phone

I wasn't really sure if I wanted a all touch screen phone, especially an android phone. I thought that it would be too bulky and complicated...well I can honestly tell anyone that this phone rocks!! All of it's features are great and I just can't seem to put it down. I also love the fact that it has a very slim design. I only wish that the battery life could last longer than a day. But I think I am at fault for that problem, as I said before I can't seem to put it down. It's a great phone!
I am just getting "settled" with my first android phone and this Continium is just great. It is hard on battery life but I am playing with it a lot as I familiarize myself with it. After I figure it all out I think it will be fine. As a gadget geek I think this phone is just a lot of fun!
This is my first smartphone and it has proven easy to use. Some of the features had to be updated out of the box, but I see that as meaning there have been continued improvements to the features and apps. The screen is very bright and colorful. The controls are intuitive. The ticker is nice because it shows messages, news, information, the time, the weather, and incoming call notices all in one place. Thanks once again Samsung.
I've been using the Continuum for about 8 months now.
This is my first Android phone and most of the positive things I can say about this phone are Android features and not the Continuum. Overall audio quality is good and clear. Screen looks great when indoors. I've not been disappointed by battery life.
Biggest issues: PROXIMITY SENSOR ISSUES. I don't like to carry a headset with me at all times. Trying to use the phone for more than a few minutes without one is problematic. If I don't hold it up to my face perfectly I'll start launching apps and pushing buttons with my cheek. Sometimes the person on the other end of the call can't hear me because I've launched an app or menu. So far this is the most common use of the ticker for me...if you're doing anything else while on a call, it becomes a "return to call" button. It's impossible to lock the screen while on a call to avoid this behavior. Having the haptic feedback vibrating loudly in my ear when this happens isn't pleasant either.
SCREEN MAKES PHONE USELESS IN DAYLIGHT. If you are outside in the daylight, forget being able to use your phone. Since there are no physical buttons, you can't even make a call if sunlight is hitting your screen without gambling with voice dialing. The AMOLED screen is very bright and clear indoors, but is the most useless I've seen of any phone in the daylight. Since the screen also backlights the Android soft-buttons, you'll be guessing where on the black bar the 'Return' button is. It's not hard, but is annoying.
ANDROID 2.1 ECLAIR. When I bought this phone in November of 2010 all the high-profile phones had just been updated with 2.2, but Samsung had already announced that Froyo would be coming soon to all Galaxy S phones. I am now an owner of the only Galaxy S phone that doesn't have the update and there's no word of when it's coming. Hopefully it'll get the announced Galaxy S Gingerbread update, but I'm not counting on it.
BUG WHERE MUSIC STARTS PLAYING. I still can't narrow this down but when using the Facebook app and other occasional random times my phone will start playing 'Annie Waits' (a song on my phone) rather loudly. Adjusting volume doesn't make a difference and if I launch Music Player it just starts playing another song simultaneously. I recently realized there's a notification that will turn it off, but I still don't know the cause. At least I don't have to power off the phone now every time it happens (which is rarely).
Cons: Did not meet expectations, screen is useless in daylight, hard to talk for long without headset, the only galaxy s phone not updated to android 2.2
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Don't waste your money

I purchased this phone because the screen looked great and it was smaller than the android phone that I currently had at the time. I regret it every day. The Samsung locks up just about every day. Sometimes it will ring, sometimes it won't. I have Google Voice. I have to press play twice in order to hear my messages. The battery doesn't last long. I can't wait until it is time to upgrade so I can get rid of it.
