The top is heavy and the connection to the bottom a bit loose. The waffles are not as crispy as they were with my previous iron. It’s ok and works as designed.

As always Cuisinart appliances are perfectly designed. The temp selection is just right. The non-stick coating — you guessed it — doesn’t stick and I don’t use oil in my cooking. The size is great. All round (pun intended) this is a perfect waffle maker!

The waffle maker operated just as other reviewers had predicted. The first time I used it, it had a strong chemical smell and I threw away the first few waffles as suggested. However, the smell lingered in our kitchen for several days and that part was not pleasant. The waffles it produced were excellent. After we were able to get the smell out of our apartment we were very pleased. Would I recommend this to a friend? If I did, my only suggestion would be to make the first few batches of waffles outside before using it in your kitchen.
I did spread canola oil on the grids (using a corner of a paper towel dipped in the oil) before each waffle and they came out easily.

An awesome waffle maker, particularly for crisp thin waffles, which I prefer. I bought two. They heat up quickly and cook the waffles quickly. I set the lever at 4 and it’s perfect for me - crispy and slightly browned. When I first got them I let them heat up for about 20 minutes to burn off the new smell. Did it outdoors.
