Makes good waffles, but I was a little disappointed in the quality of the "heat selector". The lever moves freely from one number to the next without changing the actual setting. In other words, you can move the lever back and forth from "3" to "4" without actually changing anything internally - I suppose this produces a setting of 3 1/2. I assumed this was a problem unique to my waffle maker, and returned it to the store. They ordered a replacement, but when I received it, it had the same problem. I concluded that this was a manufacturing or engineering flaw, and decided to live with it.
I also noticed that the hinge for the lid is quite loose. Both of these issues would be very apparent to anyone who checked (quality control?)
I would recommend this to a friend!

Sadly we had to return the waffle maker, the sliding light to dark indicator was not working properly 5 was not even cooking the waffles. I think the indicator seemed loose

The waffle maker works well and has pleasant appearance. The problem with it is that the little slider that you use to determine how done you want the waffles, is an incredibly cheap, flimsy piece that is barely seated in the appliance and provides no confidence that you know what you're setting it at. A strange oversight on Cuisinart's part.
