Does not cool as well as a conventional AC unit

Disappointed in this 12,000 BTU U-shaped AC, this thing on Turbo blows less cool air than my conventional 8,000 units. It's common sense. The fan motor is outside. It has to push the air through the small opening at the bottom of the "U" inside and then up to the air discharge vents. It's quiet, sure, but I wish I had bought a conventional. And forget about "opening the window." If you seal it correctly to keep out bugs and drafts you are never going to open the window. The compressor never shuts off. I use helper fans to try and get the air circulated more.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love This AC!

We have had this AC for two years now and right now it is 93 out and have to keep this at 70 because any lower I would freeze! This window unit cools my huge kitchen, back mudroom, hallway and bathroom. We are so impressed we are buying two more for upstairs! The unit is quiet. Different install than regular window ones, but not complicated.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We can still open our window with it running and it's so easy to control and cools and amazingly large area of our home. The extra smart features are amazing and it isn't expensive to run.

This is a neat design. It functions well. Very very quiet, looks really good. App works well over WiFi. It cools well. Energy efficient according to the specs, time will verify that. Solid amount of technology for the money.

I've only had the unit installed for a week but wanted to put my first impressions out there. Pro's; Much quieter operation than standard units, Smaller inside window "footprint", Cools fine. Con's: As commented by another reviewer, Foam Blocks are too small! Such a small additional manufacturing cost to provide foam blocks of adequate size and design to seal the unit properly. Disappointing Midea! Second major gripe is inability to dim the display controls. If using in a bedroom (we are)... the display is bright enough to read a book by and illuminates the entire room. If there is a way to dim it, I couldn't find out how in the manual.

I was so excited for this unit but I got it and after installing, it has an unbearable hissing noise. The cheap 5,000BTU unit I had was MUCH more preferable to this. Very disappointed :-/

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great window air conditioner unit, it was easy to get installed. I love that I am able to keep the window closed to keep the bugs out. It came with all kinds of insulation blocks to put in any cracks, it keeps the heat out. This AC unit cools everything down so quickly!
