Mold even though we live in a dry climate

Pretty upset after discovering mold in both of our units. I work in air pollution control & I have experience with HVAC as well as mold remediation. I agree with other reviews about the drain hole problem. We properly installed. We clean the units regularly. Since it got how about two months ago I started smelling a funk and recently discovered it's the AC units after several nights of sinus congestion & my family feeling sick. I used my phone to take a photo & video inside of the unit - mold everywhere. Very upsetting given that we chose to buy the more expensive "top of the line" "new groundbreaking technology" because now we have to launder everything in our bedrooms (we have to go to the laundry mat $$$), I might need to replace the mattress & furniture. Insurances don't cover mold so I have to fix things out of pocket. I'm super stressed about this.

worthless

This air conditioner is pretty much worthless and not worth the hype that these media outlets tech and consumer review websites make this brand. This unit is not 12,000 btu it has a 5,000 btu output but at a much higher amperage and wattage it cools but the cooling performance is not that great and does not pull humidity from the air which is a primary function of an air conditioner it pulls a slight fraction of humidity from the air resulting in the cool and clammy which still causes you to sweat and create another set of problems in the room. The compressor creates more heat then necessary even in milder temps outdoor making this unit a huge energy waster and inefficient like other midea units ive owned the anti tip brackets are pointless when the side brackets prevent movement this unit idols more than it runs to cool never shutting down from a resulting 65 set point to 68-70 your compressors needs improvement they run way to hot and are very noisy my central system runs much quieter not being inverter. the design is thoughtful but the outdoor section is pretty ugly with no design i registered the warranty which is already 6 months in there's not point in making a claim im just going to recover the refrigerant and take it to a recycling center last but least the inverter is already emitting a burning smell you also need to add more space for the condenser section because the unit cant breath properly with every component crammed together resulting in little to no air flow.

Loud and Moldy

Its crazy how loud this rattling / claking noise gets when the AC is running. Any time it is on, it makes way too much noise. Even a portable AC is quieter. Mold is starting to also appear on the inside and the outside flap, even with regular cleaning. Not great, looking to replace with something better.

The left drain hole design is flawed, causes mold build up
on August 25, 2023

The left and right drain hole located under the evaporator are not designed the same. The left drain hole is not leveled with the bottom of the evaporator pan, which causes water to build up and never get fully drained. The right drain hole does not have this issue. I followed the instructions so there is always a chance you get this issue. I will have to thoroughly clean my unit since its no longer sanitary, and smells horrid, what a hassle. *Video description: I slid a zip tie into the left drain hole and as you can see it is not touching the bottom of the pan. When I fully pulled the ziptie out, it made a snapping noise as it made contact with the bottom of the evaporator pan*

Barely used and now is gone

I purchased three Midea AC units in March 2022: two 8000 BTU units and one 12000 BTU unit. The 12000 BTU unit is installed in my living room, but I barely use it compared to the other two, which I use more often. The ACs are somewhat quiet but not particularly powerful. Unfortunately, my experience with the 12000 BTU unit has been disappointing. It initially displayed an error code "PC 04" and later another error "EC 07." Considering it only lasted two summers, I expected more from a supposedly reputable brand. Overall, it has been a very bad experience.

Lasted one season

Never was impressed with the temperature of the cool air coming from this unit. Now, this season, it blows warm air until it faults and shuts down. Ran self check from the app, and it list "refrigerant leak." So now I'm thinking it's been low/leaking refrigerant from day one, which explains why it never blew really cold air. Other than it only lasting one season and not blowing really cold air, I liked the design and how quiet it was. Hoping Midea stands behind their 5-year sealed system warranty. Will update with outcome of warranty claim.

Serious MOLD Issue
on August 21, 2023

My unit developed a serious mold issue internally. Problem is that most AC install/repair services that I've reached out to won't clean these units as a service so I'm most likely going to have to replace the unit entirely since it's such a pain to take apart yourself (and that's not recommended).

Possible Design Issue - Unit Not Cooling

I have the 12,000 BTU unit and it is only putting out 74 degree air. Absolutely brutal here in Florida. Has to be some.kind of design issue with this model based on the reviews with similar issue. I have a 30 year old Fedders window unit back at my shop office and it will turn you into an ice cube in 10 minutes. I'm sitting in my living room with this Midea on for several hours and I'm sweating right now, which is not a surprise with it putting out only 74 degree air. Very disappointing.
