Quiet and PERFECT for a VoiceOver studio!

I'm a national VoiceOver talent and a comfortable studio is so important! My VoiceOver studio is on the second floor of my house and our upstairs HVAC has been underpowered since installed. We recently completely lost our upstairs AC and I bought this Midea as an emergency replacement to keep the studio cool while we get a new house ducted HVAC installed. The Midea has been great, cools my studio like it has never been cooled before, and is actually quieter than my central whole house vents ever were, and a quiet cooling system is a MUST for a VoiceOver studio. From this point forward, I will be using the Midea U-Shaped window unit as my main cooling unit for the studio. Plus it looks great! By the way, install was only a few easy steps and even though 2 people are recommended for install, I handled it easily on my own. Thanks for making such a great product, Midea! If you ever need a VoiceOver for commercials, training, install videos, whatever...then look me up because I will be voicing about a product I believe in!

Cute but not strong enough

I was really excited to upgrade my 8,000 BTU windmill AC to something larger and just as sleek. I went with the Midea 12,000BTU because of its design and hopes that it would give me more power and create a colder environment. As many others in this review board, Unfortunately it's underwhelming in my 500 sq ft space. On warm / hot days the unit can't bring my apt lower than 75 degrees. It's currently 71 outside now and my home temp is 73, with the AC at 70. I've cleaned it, jiggled it and even ran it for hours to no avail. It's been a constant frustration as I was hoping to save energy but I feel like I have it running on all of its highest setting for hours only to get below average results. Have to add that I love the look and it was easy to install.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My units have developed mildew on the air mover, which due to its design can't be taken apart to be cleaned. You almost have to break it to take out the wire grate and clean the mover/roller with a paintbrush and bleach. So that's the major health concern, but once you make a schedule with these units via the app, it doesn't matter if the schedule are turned off or even deleted, they stick to the schedules. Only way to get them to not stick to the schedule is to unplug them. I wish I had bought "dumb" units from the hardware store for 1/2 of the price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a really smart idea. It's quiet it cools quickly. Love that it's a smart appliance that can be connected via the app or the included remote control. And it's energy efficient to boot. Also love that the window slides into the unit. The only con is that it's not one person friendly it is pretty heavy and can't be installed alone. If it could be lighter that'd be the icing on the cake.

Lost cooling and fan power after a few weeks

I have my unit in a bedroom that opens into my living room in a very small 1B1BA place. It worked great for the first week or so, and has since lost fan and cooling power dramatically. I have cleaned the filter and examined other parts of the unit, watched tutorials etc. Very disappointed. At this point it can hardly cool my 12X12 (144 sq ft) room.

Not Cooling Beyond 7 Feet from AC

I have a 'split-level' home, with bedrooms on the upper level, and no central A/C. Over the past 16 years of ownership, I've used a window unit in the master bedrooms west window and have had to clean out bird nests & debris from the sill every fall, to the point of the sill becoming unstable for further A/C use. Purchased this, placed in the south window, and with the glass down most of the way, will hopefully make the birds find a tree, rather than a window, otherwise more extreme measures will be taken...
