I had an old Dyson ball vacuum cleaner for a long time, but the pullout hose broke (but still worked with duct tape). Even though the ball vacuum has a good suction, but it was heavy and not easy to maneuver. Finally, I decided to replace the old workhorse vacuum with the cordless Dyson. The V8 Absolute was on sale with an extra attachment as bonus. So far, I liked it. It is easy to maneuver and the suction is good and all the attachments are very easy to change. There are a few complaints, one is there is no locking mechanism to hold the trigger and the other is the battery doesn't have enough capacity for a long vacuuming task. You need a replacement battery while the other charging, then the battery has to be removed with three screws, and it's cumbersome. Other than that, this is a good vacuum cleaner.

Not impressed. Very noisy, I’m wondering if something is wrong with the motor. My Dyson V7 did not seem as noisy, when it was first purchased.

overall I love this Dyson V8 but my V6, which lasted for 8 years till the battery died, was quieter, I do like the way to empty the cannister on the V8 better. Power and efficiency is great. I wouldn't by any vacuum but a Dyson. Also, the V8 runs about 15 minutes or more on a full charge.

I absolutely love this vacuum. I don’t get to run it on high too often because it’s so powerful. It tries to suck up my runner carpets, I have so many attachments for cleaning everything that are easy to swap on and swap off. I can literally get every nook and cranny with only one exception I don’t have the attachment to get underneath my couch. That’s the only one I don’t have. But I’m seriously thinking about buying another one for my daughter for her room.
