We brought the Dyson V8 for our son for Christmas, he likes it.
The reason we brought him a Dyson is because we brought a Dyson V11 about 3 years ago and I love it, I can not believe how well it cleans, carpet and hardwood floors.

This is my first cordless stick vacuum and also my first Dyson. I’ve been a loyal long term user of a competitive brand with a name that rhymes with park but the reviews for their cordless vacuums weren’t that great so I opted for this in Black Friday. I’ve been using it regularly, pretty much daily or every other day for about a month now and am very happy with my decision to purchase this vacuum. My main level is about 2000 sq ft with only 3 bedrooms having carpet. The rest is LVP. I have 2 cats and a 3 year old toddler so this machine is put to the test often.
Pros -
1. Lightweight and super easy to use and maneuver.
2. Suction exceeds my expectations.
3. Comes with accessories including a crevice tool, dust brush, motorized mini brush head and two interchangeable roller heads for different flooring types. Also comes with a wall mounted docking station for charging & storage with hardware included.
4. On regular mode it’s a lot more quiet than any corded vacuum I’ve ever owned.
5. Filtration and dust cup are impressive. They work so well and are easy to use. I love that any hair or dirt built up around the filter inside the dust cup is removed when opening the top cover to release the bottom cover of the dust cup. This is brilliant in my opinion. No more sticking my hands inside a dirty dust cup to remove wads of built up hair and dirt.

Areas for improvement -
1. No LED light on the roller head or motor for use with attachments. This is one of my biggest complaints and disappointments with this vacuum.
2. Large debris doesn’t get sucked up due to how far down the front part of the roller head cover comes down. This causes larger items to be pushed around on the floor but never sucked up. This is another point of frustration because it doesn’t suck up pieces of cat food that are smaller than the size of a pea.
3. Carpet roller head doesn’t work on most of my rugs, even those that aren’t high pile. For some reason the brush roll stops spinning and the suction cuts off. Maybe this is a user error but I watched all the instructional videos in the app and didn’t see anything addressing this. This is frustrating since it requires getting out my larger corded vacuum to do the rugs. It does work well on my low pile area rug though.
4. Maybe this is normal with cordless vacuums and my lack of experience with them is showing but I was really surprised that there isn’t an on/off power button. Instead there’s a trigger that you have to hold down continuously during use. I’m not a huge fan of this and have also accidentally bumped it and had the vacuum start which scared the crap out of one of my skiddish cats. Not a huge dealbreaker or anything but just something to note.
5. The handheld motor part gets warm really fast when using the vacuum in max suction mode. It doesn’t get hot but does get noticeably warmer very quickly.

Overall I’m very happy with my decision to give this Dyson cordless stick vacuum a try. It charges quickly and holds its charge for the stated amount of time and the suction is great.

not what I expected. I did not realize that it only worked on hardwood floors. Does not work on carpet. Also battery did not last long enough to do the entire house.
