Although left on the charger as instructed, it is not keeping a charge while in use very long

I’ve had the vacuum for about a month and so far works very well, easy to empty tray. The battery is only reason not 5 stars, it drains pretty quickly and takes hours to fully charge. I should have expected that for 8V. Besides that I love it and will be keeping it for a long time.
We are seniors and, thanks to a good sale price, decided to try this Dyson to see if it would be easier to handle and push than our 2 yr old upright. It definitely is. It is also wonderfully easy when it comes to emptying the collected dust. Super easy to switch to attachments, too. Four stars though because it doesn't have an on/off switch. Constant pressure to keep it on is a bit hard on arthritic hands and it's easily turned on accidentally.
This is my second one. I liked my first one so good that I bought a second one for up stairs. I would definitely buy this product again and recommend it to a friend.
