Great on carpet but, not so good on vinyl flooring. It needs a separate full size head attachment for flooring or tiles. Tools are very helpful
throughout.

In the spirit of Valentine's day, I thought I would write a love letter to this beautiful piece of machinery. When I fired this baby up yesterday, it's like all of my previous vacuuming experiences were a complete lie. Tears of happiness rolled down my face as I removed any evidence that dust and crumbs ever existed in my apartment. This vacuum has legitimately increased my happiness. Every aspect of the vacuuming experience has been carefully curated into making cleaning an absolute joy. Get this vacuum and your life will improve, I swear this to you.

Battery life, trigger for keeping it on

To use this vacuum, I have to presweep the floors which defeats the purpose of investing in a high end vacuum. The battery life does not last for 40 min no matter what the mode. The vacuum feels hot in my hands when have it in the high vacuum mode. The trigger feature keep turned it on is not good for people who do not have strong hands.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We live in an apartment with a large long hair dog that sheds constantly. The Dyson v8 is exactly what we hoped it would be, Very easy to use, and does a great job picking up long white dog hair. Thank you Dyson.

Cordless V8 is a game changer

I've had Dustbusters before and also a Dyson Ball vac from more than 10 years ago. The Ball is a great vac but because of the cord it doesn't get taken out very often. The Dustbuster's battery died twice and are not replaceable, and they are only good for small cleanings. The cordless Dyson V8 Absolute that I got is a real game changer. Pull it easily from its dock, vac up a large area, put it back. Easy peasy.
Minor things: you need to get used to holding the trigger down to keep it vacuuming. Dyson should probably think about changing that. And, the attachments with the long bristles really need to be used in Max mode because the long bristles mean the low power suction doesn't pick up too much; is shorten the bristles if I were Dyson.
Other than that it's been great. My brother has an older model (V6) I think and the battery died on him after a few years, but he got a replacement which requires opening up the case. This doesn't seem like a big problem to me so long as they keep making a compatible battery.
All in all, I'm loving it and the house is definitely cleaner because of how low the friction is to start vacuuming.

We bought 2 Dyson vacuums, both very unpredictable. We went through customer service to troubleshoot one that would stop working in minutes and sputter when it “ worked”! The other is so unreliable we don’t bother using it. We like the maneuverability and space saving design but unfortunately we haven’t had a good experience with the prior purchases.
