[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this when my dog stopped playing clean up after my children's meals. Its so quick to grab, clean, empty and put back that I find myself cleaning more often for quick as needed cleaning instead of putting it off on my to do list. Pricey but I love it.

Great light weight vacuum

Just bought a second one, besides being very light weight it picks up a ton of dirt you don’t even see. Very convenient you’ll find yourself cleaning a lot more than when you were punching around the old heavy machine you use to have.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Terrible power loss

I have 2 of these. Very expensive. One works for about 5 minutes even when not on turbo and the other will no longer charge. I would not recommend them.

The Dyson V8 machines provides up to 40 minutes of run time, depending on the mode and combination of modes used. The V8 has two modes: extended run high suction and max mode. Max mode is designed to be a temporary boost of power for particularly stubborn messes and provides 7 minutes in total run time. The extended run high suction mode is ideal for majority of cleaning tasks and provides up to 40 minutes of run time.

When purchased directly from Dyson or an authorized retailer, the Dyson V8 machine has a 2-year warranty for manufacturer defects, and we'd be happy to help with some diagnostics to ensure your machines are running smoothly. Battery

I’ve had the vacuum for just over a month. The battery was good for approximately 30 minutes. Now I can’t even get 10 minutes. It’s taking 24 hours to charge. Trying to get help has been a nightmare. Dyson website is impossible for me to navigate. Don’t waste your money. You’re not going to get it back.

My first Dyson

I had been saving up to buy this for 2 years now. As a resident in training, this is still a big budget purchase for me. It is light years ahead compared to my previous very affordable vacuum that was just 3 years old. My biggest peeve was that it would spit out the hair in a tangled knot. No more hairy carpets! I will say though, I didn't realize what a pain it would be to hold down the button the entire time that I vacuum. Fortunately, I have a small apartment but that is a big drawback. If this meant only for small spaces and short bursts of use, I am not sure it is worth the price tag. In hindsight, knowing what I know now, would not have picked this model for my needs.

We can confirm that our V8 models do have a trigger which needs to be held down, to power the machine. This light-touch trigger helps to conserve battery life, ensuring that power is only being used with the trigger engaged. This also helps to save battery life, when you're needing to move around obstacles such as furniture, or even when moving from room to room. We do appreciate that feedback!

With regard to overall run time, you will get up to 40 minutes of run time with our V8 machines, or 30 minutes when using one of the motorized tools, in the extended run time mode. Most owners find that the suction in this mode is suitable for everyday cleaning. For those tougher messes or even larger debris, you can switch over to MAX suction for a short boost of power. For the price, it should work better.

We love the idea of the Dyson V8 Animal, but for the price, we have had too many issues with it.
Pros: Cordless. Charging block on the wall for easy, quick access.
Cons: Battery dies VERY fast. We get about 10-15 seconds use out of it on Max power, and maybe 45 seconds on low power mode. It doesn't vacuum any carpets unless they are flat, even then it will only work on low power mode. After vacuuming the floors, almost every single time, when we pick the vacuum up to carry back to the charger, the debris falls right back out of the vacuum. It's as if it isn't sucking it all the way to the trash chamber and it's suspended in the stick.
Like I said, we love the idea of this product. But for the price we paid, it should not be having battery issues, and issues where the dirt and debris fall back out of the vacuum when it is turned off. Very disappointing, especially because we have only had it for 1.5-2 years max. We tolerated the debris coming out, but now that the battery dies WAY too fast, that's the last straw for me. I can't even clean my floors in one go without it dying.
