Disappointing

First the good - yes, lots of suction. Now the bad - too much suction, even on the "not MAX" setting. The manual talks about a slide control on the brush head, but mine doesn't have that. I've searched the Dyson website and even watched the "how to" videos, and nothing shows how to adjust the suction (other than with the aforementioned "Max" setting up on the body). We have some fairly thin rugs, and the suction is so great that it lifts the rug up, causing the rug to wrinkle and jam the brush head. Then, in order to unjam it, I can't simply let off the trigger and slide the brush head away from the wrinkle, I have to lift the vacuum off the rug, put it back down and then pull the trigger again. Additional annoyance - there's a slight delay between hitting the trigger and the brush head starting up. It's enough of a delay that it makes vacuuming more work than with our previous stick vac (especially if I have to keep stopping to unjam it).
I tried researching accessories for this vacuum, and "maybe" the fluffy head might be better (it doesn't claim to have less suction, just looks like it might). However, it's currently not available.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works about 3% of the time...

Unfortunately after purchasing this vacuum new for one of our offices, I received constant complaints about how it won't work for more than 5 minutes at a time. It has not functioned fully for one battery cycle since coming out of the box, and lately it just pulses and refuses to pick up anything. I feel a bit foolish for recommending Dyson so highly to my employees based on the ones I have at home, it makes for a pleasant art piece in the closet.

Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Dyson V8. It sounds like you may be using your machine in MAX suction mode, which it will be switched on to, right out of the box. This mode provides a boost of suction power for larger debris or more stubborn messes, but will only give you about 7 minutes of run time. Regular suction mode - designed for everyday cleaning, will give you up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized tool or attachment). If you are having a pulsing or revving issue with no suction, that does indicate that there is a blockage. We'd be more than happy to help troubleshoot the issue. New to Dyson

I have thought about purchasing a Dyson cordless vac for years, but decided to take the plunge this year. two things impressed me immediately: the amount of suction of the Dyson V-8 and how much quieter it is than ALL of my former vacs. But what I especially liked after using it a few times was how lightweight it was and how much easier it was on my lower back. Cleaning was done quickly and fast and I haven't minded the 40 minute limit at all. Who vacs their whole house at once? I have 3500 sq.ft and don't mind doing doing most of that in 40 minutes which will clean all my major rooms, and then hit the bedrooms another time. I am very happy with this machine.

This is my second V8…I’ve had one since 2015. It still works amazingly well. My new seems to be even more powerful. It’s easy to store, charges quickly…and is extremely powerful.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pretty sure I didn’t even receive a new Dyson. It was dusty and had lint all over it. To make matters worse, my house is really small and I can’t vacuum my whole house without the battery dying. I’ll never buy another Dyson.

Love Lost

I bought this a year ago, and thought it was the greatest. The battery sure didn't last long, but I worked around that. Then it had issues with the vacuum head. The company took FOREVER to mail parts that didn't help resolve the issue. So I paid all that money to have a vacuum cleaner sitting around for months. You also have to clean this vacuum so often, and the filter takes days to dry. Therefore, you are without a vacuum cleaner as it dries. I don't recommend this vacuum cleaner at all unless you have a backup for the actual vacuuming task.
