Battery life sucks!

I was so excited to finally own a Dyson, until I started using mine. The battery life is terrible!! I can’t do my house without charging it. I tried to do my small car yesterday and the battery died before I finished my small hatchback! DON’T waste your money my Daughters vacuum is much better

Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Dyson V8 cordless machine. The V8 provides up to 40 minutes of run time, depending on the mode, or combination of modes, used.

The V8 features two modes: extended run high suction and max mode. Out the box, the machine may be set to max mode. Max mode is designed to be a temporary boost of power for particularly stubborn messes and provides a total of 7 minutes of run time. Extended run high suction mode provides up to 40 minutes of run time and is ideal for the majority of cleaning tasks.

Terrible battery

I have had this for about 2 years and the battery is so awful I can barely finish 1 room before it dies.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Powerful!

Very light and powerful machine. Love the flexibility from a stick vacuum to a hand vac, and all of the extra attachments are very handy. Hangs perfectly from the wall with the included charging base. Good value!

Can't use max suction

After about 2 years of use the max suction function constantly pulses (won't remain on). I've put on new filters and a new battery all to no avail.

Any time there is pulsing, it can alert of an obstruction or dirty filter, but we'd generally expect that to occur in both suction modes. Don't buy - 3 years and useless

I bought this in December 2019, and here I am with a useless vacuum in October 2022. Dyson says it needs a new battery, but I think I'm having electronic issues. It runs about 30 seconds, if I plug it in for a second I get another 30s use. This makes it seem like a new battery would be a waste of money. For the premium Dyson charges, you'd e better off just buying a new competitor vacuum every year.

Terrible battery life

I'm shocked at just how bad the battery life is. It has lasted 15 minutes and it takes over 5 hours to charge. Other than this extraordinary flaw the vacuum works very well. It's designed nicely, sucks up everything, and it comes with many useful attachments. Unfortunately the abysmal battery life is a huge inconvenience. I'm going to try charging it and using it a few more times before I decide to return it or update this review to something more positive.

Your Dyson V8 cordless offers two powerful suction modes - regular and MAX. MAX provides a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode should not be utilized for your everyday cleaning, as it will only give you about 7 minutes of run time. Regular suction is generally suitable for every household, and gives up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized tool). I appreciate a product that can replace 2 others - upright vacuum and hand held vac. Being cordless and so lightweight it makes it EASY to clean anywhere. Very user friendly product.

DO NOT BUY

I received this vacuum in the mail last night, charged it overnight, and within 3 minutes of using it today the motor started to make pulsing noises. The troubleshooting number had a recording about this problem, saying it was caused by poor airflow and/or a filter blockage. There was nothing in either filter. i have never paid this much money for a vacuum and can't believe it malfunctioned out of the box. Its going back today.

It's very disheartening to hear that after just a few minutes of use, you began to hear a pulsing noise within your machine. While it's uncommon to happen so quickly, if anything was picked up in those few minutes of use, that blocked the flow of air in your wand, the floor tool, or even the bin, it would cause that noise. It's not a machine fault, but it's there to alert you to remove the blockage. When that noise occurs, the machine will no longer provide suction to prevent further blockages/damage to the machine's motor. We understand why this experience has been disappointing, and are sorry that this is the impression you've been left with, with a Dyson machine.
