Bought the game for my son but after seeing how strikingly similar it is to the old Mario kart I’ve decided to return the game.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

To the angry people saying it’s the same as Mario kart 8 and the graphics are nothing special do you understand that this is open world lol and the switch 1 could have never done this lol don’t listen to the haters game is amazing and the knockout mode is super addictive

I don't know why people are giving this game such bad reviews. Nintendo has never been about cutting edge graphics. I don't see why things would have changed this time around.
It is all about the fun factor and on that front MKW delivers. Have a couch party with 3 of your friends or go online and take advantage of GameChat to determine who the ultimate MKW racer is !
Compared to MK8, MWW's picture is crisper, sharper (turn on 4k resolution and HDR) and the game is just smoother. It is not reinventing the wheel but the formula still works great.
Any parent returning the game that they bought for their child(ten) because it isn't blowing their socks off graphically is making a mistake. This is a good game.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Anyone here claiming that others do not have the switch 2 because they do not like this game need to move out of their parent's basements and live in the real world.

Anyone who would dare compare this to Mario Kart 8 either doesn't actually have a switch 2 or they don't know what they're talking about. This is so far graphically Superior and physics alone

This version is a leap forward. I'm not sure what the great expectations were leading up to it's release, but the graphics are boosted and looks polished. The subtle differences in controls and dynamics are very noticeable. The 8 to 12 to 24 racers per race makes it way more exciting, especially when you're playing with others. The characters have their own... well, character, which is refreshing. I do like the different skins acheived through playing and not through microtransactions.
For the casual players, it's fun; for the completionists and secret seekers, you'll have good time discovering something new.
Nintendo's price hike is definitely a shock, but they had kept their prices low for so long that they were due to match(and in some cases, exceed) the rest of the market. Gaming isn't about gaming anymore, microtransactions on mobile games have set a new standard on how hard companies can shaft gamers that console and PC gaming companies have followed suit in order to make more money.
True value in a game is very rare nowadays. Expect a resurgence of indie games. That will be the only way to convince big studios to give players what they want. We shouldn't always need to have an internet connection and a credit card attached to a game in order to play it.

Game good shipping not so..

ordered game as well as switch 2 console, both came in box NO packing so they banged around inside the box. I did reach out to best buy and got absolutely NO response. do better.. add packing inside the box when shipping.. not sure if console works until Christmas day.

It's my first mario kart game, and I love it.
Mario Kart is silly and very funny. the wait time for online play is very short. I am laughing all the time as I play it, which is an experience I almost never had in online multiplayer games. It's truly a blessing ദ്ദി◝ ⩊ ◜)
