My current router was not able to keep up with the 30+ devices now connecting via WiFi. When I tested my speed via a direct connection I was getting 300 MBS+. But WiFi devices kept freezing up so I came to the conclusion the issue was the router’s 12 device limitation.
I thought I’d give this a shot. I had tried an eero previously but wasn’t impressed. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the Wyze Mesh router. It seems to have solved the majority of my issues. Speed is very fast and minimal hang ups.
My only reason for deducting one star is that it seems to boot up slowly after a power loss. The primary router comes up within a minute. However, the Wyze root router and satellites take an additional minute or two.
It also throws off a lot of heat at the bottom of the base so it’s important you place it on top of a hard surface in a well ventilated area.
Great setup process, very easy. The key is to keep your wireless network name the same. Saves you from reinstalling other wyze devices. Good coverage throughout the house.
I've had issues for years with the combo router/modem from AT&T, so I took a gamble to add the Mesh Router Pro system and see what it did. I now have a complete connection in the house and all around the outside perimeter of the house. There are no more dropped connections with devices and my Wi-Fi printer actually works perfectly. I had this all installed in less than an hour and was happy that Wyze completed the technology when they did. I was able to turn off the Wi-Fi signal from my old AT&T combo router and just go with the 6E signal from each of the Wyze routers. Two routers were perfect for me and my home. This is a real winner and I'm pleased that I jumped on board when it was first available. Thank you Wyze!
Coverage is excellent and so far I notice a significant improvement in bandwidth through out the house. I was experiencing video quality issues with my last mesh system and thought it must be the service provider but speed tests would always show excellent results. After replacing with two of these bad boys all is right now. I have at least 30 devices connected. At two to three devices streaming and no real performance issues.
Bought 3 for use in extremely crowded wifi apartment building. Easy setup despite user error. So far haven’t disappointed as all our IoT devices, cameras, streaming, etc., have been able to maintain rock solid connections where it was impossible before. There is web interface to routers (in addition to app) with not as many features as other mainstream routers, but this also is aimed at easy to use and not the dd-wrt crowd. Did buy a simple switch to expand lack of ports in back. Was also able to connect non Wyze bridges. Also have a pair back hauled via wire connection no problem. App keeps wanting us to “optimize” the remaining wireless satellite router but fails every time forcing reboot. Leaving as is, it works fine so hopefully area to be addressed in future updates. One area of concern (-1 star) is the bottom heat sink is scalding hot constantly, registering over 120 with infrared thermometer. Not to be handled or placed on surface you care about. We put our routers on raised metal trivets which helped bring down the temp a little bit (and saved wooden surfaces) but wonder what sort of electric draw this has and how hot apartment will now be in summer.
I love that it was easy to install and very easy to use on the app. My favorite part is being able to organize by group and renaming the devices. It’s also a nice feature to be able to add a guest network as well.
