Basically went from 'smokesignal' WiFi to 'bullet train' with this upgrade. Now running multiple devices simultaneously with little to no issue. Range is about 100' with a strong signal even with the router in a daylight basement and your device outside on the dirt/basement side wall of the house. It's auto-antenna speed select thing seems to do its job. And it was set up by a rank amateur with Apple everything. Seems to be money well spent so far, if we didn't have to hook up to such a sluggish internet monopoly provider out here in the hills, it would be doubly amazing. But at least now I know it's not my equipment holding up the data speed. Time to join the group putting the screws to my provider. So far, so good, works as advertised right out of the box.

It's good, few issues.

It's a good router... fast, and has a good signal range. My house hold is of gamers (PC/PS4), the router keeps up when EVERYONE is connected and using at the same time... The router does amazing.
The only 2 issues I get is: Sometimes the router drops the WiFi once a week, and I have to go and turn it off for 20 seconds and back on and it's good from there (haven't found a setting to fix that) 2. With our mobile devices, when we turn off our WiFi to use data, and then reconnect back to the router Wifi, it says incorrect password (even though the correct password saved on our phone) but so have to re-put it in to get back on the WiFi.
It's still a good router, I do recommend it, am sure theres something in the settings to correct all of this, but no where out there explains how to fix it.

NETGEAR Nighthawk AC4000

I am a long time customer of Netgear. My current Netgear router was several years old and was working fine. I wanted to upgrade because we are now streaming much more than ever. Movies on multiple TV's at the same time. Computers, phones etc. and I wanted a fast robust router. I stuck with Netgear and went with the Nighthawk because of the Tri Band Mu-Mimo. I downloaded the APP and it made installation of the router a breeze. The QR scan made registering the router simple as well. I changed the routers name and pass key from my phone and all of our devices including multiple Alexa's signed on very easy. I have the Nighthawk on the second floor of my house and I have a Netgear extender in the basement that works through the Nighthawk. The extender works great with it as well. I would buy this product again for sure!!!

Best high end consumer/enthusiast wireless router

Well for the average joe this product is so easy setup and get going with high speed connectivity wirelessly on THREE DIFFERENT BANDS. Love that they keep a legacy 2.4 band and two high speed 5g bands. the MU-MINO technology is turned off by default which i thought was weird but for me you can feel the difference when you have a dozen + devices connected. Its really great that you can split bandwidth between the bands as well as the device load. Its really great from an Access Control perspective controlling device limits. Being able to share a drive, as well as a printer via the USB 2.0 and 3.0 slots. The physical setup is great as well. The antennas are built in and just fold up which is super nice not to have to screw those things in. Range is great, features are limitless and its pretty sleek looking. For the price it is a pretty great deal.

I should have done it sooner

I am extremely pleased with the result. My internet was slow to the point of almost not working but with the addition of this router, connected to a new NETGEAR modem, I feel like I live in the future. Super fast downloads allowing me to maximize my service. The installation took minutes and the Nighthawk app used to interface with it is the coolest thing I've seen in a while allowing easy configuation, control of connections, and keeping track of performance. The multiple bands allow for distribution of connections to keep the data flowing smoothly. I understand this model is equipped with the technology needed to interact with upcoming changes to devices and connectivity which provides a bit of futrueproofing so it will continue to give excellent performance moving forward. The value of this product exceeds its cost. Stop looking and buy this product.

Wifi

Due to our area not having the best internet options, I first tried Netgear when I moved into my new home in July of 2018. We first bought the wifi extender because out main living in house received no internet signals. The extender helped recieve internet in our upstairs room. Internet was still a little bad the the extender still helped. We upgraded our speed to see if that helped it was still the same. I later contacted NETGEAR the employee suggested not to use the router that out internet provider provided for us. He also informed me that older home with walls can create issues. The next day I bought NETGEAR WIFI NIGHTHALK ROUTER. Installed it that day. I only had the router for a week and now I am able to work from home, play games, and watch tv with absolutely NO buffering!! BEST DECISION WE EVER MADE! Now I put my trust on NETGEAR for my future purchases

Definition of high speed wireless connection
on May 29, 2019

I've always relied on the internet provider's modem/router equipment for years now and missed out the opportunity to maximize our wireless connection at home. So when the day came to try on going independent I look in the market and the Nighthawk AC4000 is the first item that popped due to it's great review from the community. Out of the box, the AC4000 looks class and up for the task. Its multi-horn like antennas give a futuristic vibe to the product which is really cool. And then came to the time to plug it in to our fiber connection equipment and from then on, the activation, configuration and discovery of the network were smooth. I have a consistent speed for the 3 bands (2.4 and 2 5G) in every corners of our house and really satisfied compared to our old configuration. I'm glad that I've found the right purchase in one shot and never really looked back. This product rocks!

Airport extreme replacement
on May 29, 2019

After my airport extreme started to have connectivity issues and slow speeds we started looking for a new router and since apple no longer makes a router i started to look elsewhere. I checked out the trendy mesh routers but our house isnt really big enough to justify them and i wanted the ability to plug in a hard drive for network storage and backup. This device has worked perfectly so far. Our internet speeds are insanely fast in all rooms. No buffering or poor picture quality when streaming and no reboots needed daily so far. I like only having one device instead of several plugged in through the house. This router basically splits up the connection and adjust speeds and connectiom based on device usage so you dont have to do anything. The only thing i hate is that it looks like some kind of star trek alien battleship. I wish it was a more attractive device, but it works and thats what really matters.
