[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am self taught new sewer and I have to say theSINGER® SE9180 Sewing and Embroidery Machine was simple to set up and learn. The machine has over 250 sewing stitches and over 150 embroidery. It is so amazing! All the information you need is directly displayed on the large touch screen. Over all it is user friendly and I am so glad I waited to for this model number. I keep busy all day learning all the different functions. There is so much to do and everyday I learn something new with my new gadget I highly recommend the SINGER® SE9180 Sewing and Embroidery Machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to try this machine. It was a little difficult to set it up at first as there is no actual manual included in the box. I downloaded it and printed it. I had a little issue with the thread at first as I had it on backwards and the machine kept telling me to rethread. Once I turned the thread around, I had no issues. It is a very powerful machine with a lot of features. I have not had the chance to review them all, but it is promising. There is a little bit of a learning curve to know what needles and feet I need for what, but overall, it is good.
The touchscreen is very responsive and so far I have not touched something that I didn't mean to do.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started using the SINGER SE9180 Sewing and Embroidery Machine a few months ago and I am very happy with my purchase. This machine is amazing for both sewing and embroidery projects. It has a large 7" touch screen that lets me easily select and adjust stitches, embroidery designs, and fonts. It also has mySewne connectivity, which allows me to access thousands of designs online and monitor my embroidery progress on my smartphone. The machine is very fast and smooth, and the automatic needle threader saves me a lot of time and hassle. The embroidery area is large enough for most of my projects, and the endless hoop functionality lets me create continuous designs. The machine also comes with a lot of accessories, such as different feet, bobbins, needles, and an extension table. The machine is very easy to use and the manual is very clear and helpful. I have made some beautiful and unique items with this machine, such as quilts, pillows, bags, and clothing. I get a lot of compliments on my work and I enjoy using this machine every day. I highly recommend the SINGER SE9180 Sewing and Embroidery Machine to anyone who loves sewing and embroidery. It is worth every penny and you will not regret it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been doing basic sewing for most of my life with a super dated Singer sewing machine. I have been on the same machine so long because Singer just lasts forever, so I am way behind the times when it comes to the latest and greatest sewing machines. That said I am crazy happy with this massive upgrade and am getting into the embroidery now, something I had never really paid much mind to in the past. Note that there were five really significant issues in the setup and use of this machine that, while bad in my opinion, four can be fixed as updates are released, so I will not penalize stars for this review, as I hope that Singer will patch/update the issues soon. I did say that hopefully four will be updated in the future but unfortunately one issue cannot be updated or changed. The issues are to do with the Wifi standard (permanent), lack of Wifi security protocols, the available characters in the keyboard, cloud software incompatibilities, and lack of detailed information for USB transfer of files.
Right out of the box the Singer SE9180 is impressive! It comes with a good amount of accessories is easy to setup UNTIL you get to the internet and this is where you get to the one permanent issue, and the first two of the four issues that a future update may be able to fix. The permanent issue is that the machine uses and extremely outdated 2.4ghz Wifi standard, this really should be 2.5ghz or 5ghz as every known device anymore has both. The first issue that can be updated later, and is in my opinion the BIGGEST issue this machine has, is an apparent total lack of Wifi security protocols. To get this machine to connect to my Wifi I had to take a guest network and remove ALL security and passwords, making it an open network just to connect to the internet. The second issue is that the keyboard for entering the Wifi password lacks the most basic characters such as the asterisk!!! Making a lot of passwords impossible to enter. Again hopefully a patch or update will address these.
Now once you are past the internet setup things get smooth, until later. The SE9180 in it's sewing machine form, is simplistic and intuitive to use. The large screen and many options make it's utility as a basic sewing machine leaps and bounds better than I am used to with my Singer Merritt 9612 from the 80's. So much so that sewing is bumped up from a mundane chore for me into enjoyable territory. Operation in basic sewing is smooth and easy as are any adjustments . The automatic thread cutter works great and all in all if this were just a sewing machine I would be thrilled, but it's not, there's more!
Embroidery is where this machine shines though, and while I am a complete novice at this, the SE9180 and the mysewnet software makes this fun and pretty easy for a tech nerd like me to do like a pro. To start with, for my first embroidery ever, I wanted to choose a custom design that is not from the library, yet simple with only two colors and no intense detail which I felt would be suitable to a beginner like me. In the end I chose an ancient Roman motif as I work with ancient Roman artifacts and coins as a side business, and wanted to embroider it on a polo shirt.
To start with I got the mysewnet three month platinum trial going and installed the software with no issues on my year old Windows 11 laptop. I then pulled down a public domain image and got to work in the included digitizer. Digitizing was super easy and even with never having used it before it felt familiar enough to figure it out. Once I had the image digitized I then imported it to the embroidery software and added a border. This unfortunately was the END of the easy parts of the design process and thus came the remaining two issues. First the mysewnet cloud software had javascript errors on every single machine I tried it on. I tried this on three Windows 11 Pro laptops and a Windows 11 Home desktop. All had the same errors and there seems to be no workaround at this time. The last issue is the file format for your finished product. In the case of the SE9180 the final embroidery files need to be saved as .VP3 format and this is not called out anywhere. Again hopefully this is just a new machine's growing pains and each of these issues will be patched/updated. Moving on once I had the file uploaded to the SE9180 my USB things got smooth again. I ran a test embroidery in the hoop and it came out fast and pretty much flawless. I then repeated the process on my polo without any issues and it looks sharp!
So my final thoughts are that I never thought of liking sewing or of sewing as a hobby that required tech and software skills but the SE9180 proves that it is a hobby, or maybe even more, that a tech nerd can get into with all the design software that comes in with the mysewnet quite. Don't dismay at the issues I found, at least four can and I suspect will, be quickly patched/updated very quickly. Thanks Singer for making sewing enjoyable for me!

My only issue is that if you're not familiar with sewing machines and set up, your going to have a hard time with the directions provided. They are definitely hard to decipher. Once you get past that, let the fun begin! I absolutely love the embroidery feature. I have embroidered just about everything I can get my hands on to embroider. Bath towels, wash cloths, shirts, shorts, blankets, pillow cases, tank tops... It goes on! I am beyond thrilled to have this machine and I can't wait to see what else I can do with it! Oh, did I also mention it has a huge screen! Yeah, don't wait, get this machine now!
