a few modest Features make the difference.

I‘m very new to sewing and had already purchased a Heavy Duty 4452. I was excited about all the new features and stitches in the 6800C.
Surprisingly though there's been just a few other features that have made this machine so much better for me as a beginner: Tie off stitch, Automatic up needle and variable speed control.
Tie off stitch.
There's a button to on the front of the machine that does a tie off stich or secure stitch. This secures the stitch in a very small area. So the stich can right up to the very edge and tie off in the tiniest of areas.Of course the machine still does a backwards stitch of you need to reinforce or tie off the stitch for a wider area.
Automatic up needle.
Actually the default is automatic up. So when to take your foot off the pedal the machine continues forward to the needle in the up position. It can also be configured to be automatically down. On top of that a quick press of the pedal will move the needle forward a half stitch. So if it's up it'll move to the full down position so you can pivot the fabric or back up again. Nice!
Variable speed control.
I love, love, love the Heavy Duty 4452, but one of the most frustrating things was the machine would seem to lurch forward with the slightest press of the pedal. With the 6800C there's a slider on the front of the machine that controls the top speed of the machine. So for winding a bobbin, or a long straight stitch on a big project the machine can go really fast. For a small project, with tight stiches the top speed can be reduced to allow a lot more control, and the speed is constant. As a beginner this little feature has been the best thing to help with control and quality of my projects.
I was excited about all the stitches and advance features and they are amazing, but these 3 little things have made the biggest difference for me!

Go from light to heavy seeing with ease

I waited so long to finally have my dream sewing machine. I love the ease of going from heavy to light fabrics. I’ve seen garments, crafts and all with ease. My only wish is that they t came with manual. Some of us are old school and like paper manuals.

Hits the bobbin plate

I received this machine as a gift less a couple days ago and ever since I have taken it out of the box the needle hits the bobbin plate. The needle bar tightens the needle way too far back. I have tried countless things to correct it. Very frustrating.

My “Super” 6800C

This sewing machine is awesome! 400+ stitches real computerized system. My last sewing project with it was a breeze. I was able to assemble within minutes. Some packaging literature warns that this machine should be operated under supervision of an “expert” sewer. 👀um, yeah, this thang has Stitch speed knob, thread cutter, toggle needle up or down, stitch memory playback, so much more! The only thing I don’t like is that you have to print your own user manual👀 I can’t figure out the needle threader, it looks like it is attached backwards and the accessories are too basic for such an awesome machine. I highly recommend.

Thread issues.

I had high hopes about this machine after reading positive reviews; but i have been having some issues with the stitching as well as the automatic thread cutting. Some of the stitches are not coming out even with the tension set on 4 (actually, I have run test at tensions from 2 to 6). And when I push the button to cut the thread, the machine makes a buzzing noise and does not always cut the thread. I am using the machine with two pieces of cotton (for face mask), as well as two pieces of canvas.(shop aprons)
Maybe I am just doing something wrong? One time as it was trying to cut the thread, the bobbin was trying to come up out of the compartment where it goes.

Faulty Machine Right Out of Box

Given as a gift.
Failed to work on first use, only sews a straight line correctly. All decorative stitches cause machine to run fabric backwards and produce a pattern that looks nothing like what was selected, see the photo.
Returning this tomorrow, I will only exchange for same type if I can test it in the store as from the reviews I found on line it seems there is a 50/50 chance of the next machine being faulty as well.
Not a great way to build customer loyalty, such inconsistent quality.

We are so very sorry that you have experienced this difficulty with you new Singer Heavy Duty 6800C sewing machine. If you haven't already returned the machine, we would be happy to trouble-shoot the problem with you to see if there are quick adjustments such as tension that may correct the sewing quality? Most often for decorative stitch functions, thread tension should be less than for straight stitch sewing. Please contact us at: https://www.singer.com/Contact-Us and one of our Customer Care representatives will be happy to assist with you.
