Very disappointing. The automatic thread cutter does not work - does not cut the top thread. Right out of the box. Do the machines get ANY quality control before they are getting shipped out? And this is a second purchase of Singer machine. The first purchased, Quantun 9960 bird-nested the beginning of the stitch. Right out of the box as well.

So far I am really enjoying this machine. I also have the older non-computerized heavy duty machine, and have to say that the 6800c is far superior. The buttons for reversing, tie off, needle up/down and my favorite the thread cutting, really make the sewing experience much better for me. The start/stop button and variable speed control on the machine are genius. This machine is totally worth the money you spend on it.

Maintenance nightmare

Bought a Singer because of the reputation Singer has built over the years. Bought the machine December 2022. I am totally disgusted with the red tape involved in obtaining spare parts and repair parts for a brand new machine. This is the second time I have gone through this with this machine. Not sure I want to try to get major repairs for it, that will send me to my grave for sure. This problem was not mentioned when I bought the machine. I definitely should have done more research before purchasing a Singer.

I am a seamstress and This machine lacks the power to go through seams on jeans and it doesn’t like to go through heavy fabric when sewing zippers in coats. The cheaper machines have more power. Reverse button is in a horrible location , my hand is always hitting it when trying to turn the fabric

Had this machine for nearly 9 years. I sew with it daily, from crafts to clothes and quilting. It has handled every challenge like a pro. The only issue had so far is the thread guard on the take up lever, it allows the thread to jump track when stitching at the highest speed .
Beautiful machine with a heavy duty feel. Smooth running motor with easy to understand instructions even for a beginner. Got this for my 13yr daughter who creates fur suits and costumes. She loves it. Can easily sew thru thick canvas and thinner leather. Highly recommend this machine to anyone

Limited by presser height

I spent an entire day troubleshooting a ridiculous issue. When using the walking foot, the presser foot can't be higher than 3mm or the thread tensioner will be disengaged which will prevent the stitch from working. This machine has a max presser foot height of 6mm (only 3mm with walking foot), which is 20%+ less than the standard 5/16" or 8mm. For a heavy duty machine that could be sewing thick leather or other fabrics, this prevents the machine from working even if the motor is strong enough to handle it. So truly disappointing, because of this, the walking foot doesn't even work when it's needed most.
Also, would be so nice and easy if they made it possible to cycle through the stitches on M2-M4 with the up and down buttons, but no, have to type in the number only, meh.
