Touchy Machine then Quit
on March 30, 2022

I have been sewing for 50+ years. My old machine quit, so I thought I would upgrade. From the beginning, the machine was touchy and I had to re-thread several times each thread change to get ti to sew properly. The tension adjustment was a problem, also. Now- one week after the warranty ran out- the machine will not sew, and the needle is hitting the bobbin case. What I thought would be the perfect machine for is now just taking up space.

Had this now for a couple week, using it quite a bit already. I chose this machine for it's heavy duty sewing capability. The machine's computer is easy to use. I love the lock stitch and the cutter especially. I'm sewing on heavy sweater fabrics so I am cleaning under the plate often as fuzz accumulates quickly, but that's to be expected. I am also using the even feed foot for these projects, which at first was not working but seems to be okay now. The arm on the foot that follows the needle shaft would stick in the up position and then cause knotting up because the feed wasn't happening. Other brands I've used have a pronged arm that attaches around the needle shaft screw so it stays in place. This one only sets on top so there is nothing to keep it moving with the shaft. I rubber banded it in place but it would either come off or break. Again, it seems to be working now.

Great Machine

Only downside was that it took 2 tries to get one that worked. However, now that I have one I am loving this machine. Easily handles heavy upholstery fabric and other soft costume materials including canvas and heavy denim! Attachments are super useful, bonus walking foot is super nice. Looks like I only have a couple other feet to purchase and I will have everything I need. Slide speed switch and all the new one button automations are amazing (my last machine was a 100 Stitch w/auto button hole heavy duty Kenmore that was 32 years old, so new is realative). I can only hope this machine will last as long!

Having issues

I’ve had this machine now for a couple of months. So far, it’s been great. However, I am making the picnic blanket/tote from your website, and am having issues that I can’t seem to resolve. I was sewing the edges using an over edge stitch, and it was going fine for about 2/3 of the project. Suddenly, the stitches started looping, the bobbin tipped up inside the holder where it got completely tangled, and the thread cutter started working only intermittently. I put in a new bobbin, rethreaded the machine, tried adjusting the tension, and cannot seem to get the stitches to lay flat again. What am I doing wrong? Up until today, I’ve been loving the machine, but can’t figure out how to fix this problem.

Not happy

I expected this to be a better-quality machine and capable of sewing thru blue jeans and other heavy type fabrics. Have been thru many needles and have had to move the wheel by hand in order to sew thru blue jean seams. To many time-consuming fixes & problems getting sewing & mending done.

I love the machine. However, the third time using it the auto thread cutting motor is stick on. The gears keeping spinning. I also went online to try and register for the warranty and there’s no option for the 6800 C so I’m unable to register it for warranty.

Defective

I should have checked the machine right out of the box so I am partly to blame....I bought this machine in May of 2022 and did not start using it until December 2022 and noticed the needle positioner does not work. I just got of the phone and was told that my machine is under warranty but I have to pay to send the machine to the warranty center. I live in central California and the centers are in southern CA about 800 miles away. I think if it's under warranty they should have to pay to send it to the center. I believe this is a computer defect since everything else seems to be working and this should have been taken care of with an exchange. Very Unhappy!!

Worst machine ever!

I hope you read these reviews before you buy it. I’ve had my machine for about a year and a half. I’ve only used it five times. Every time Iuse it something else goes wrong. Unfortunately because I only use it 2-3 times a year the one year warranty was up when I contacted singer about it. First thing that was wrong was the bobbins did not wind correctly or evenly. Second time ai used it the feature to move the needle position stopped working so now it only stays in the center position. Now I was using it for the fifth time today and the feature to cut the thread stopped working. With the exception of my first two time I used the machine another problem with something that stops working! I had a Brother machine for 10 years that still works great but decided I wanted something with more features. I regret trusting the singer name and not sticking with Brother. This machine is a piece of junk!
