Good Machine but Foot Control Issues

I really liked this machine! It was easy to use and the automatic thread snip + tie off features were great for me. I’ve only had the machine for a few months when the foot control stopped working. It would work here and there but then stopped. Seems like the socket is loose and messing with the connection. I thought, oh well I’ll just take it in for service under warranty since it’s 4 months old. I was wrong, the warranty is not so hassle free as advertised. You have to find a dealer & jump through hoops to prove purchase. I’m new to sewing and this was very sad for me so now I’m looking for a new machine because most repair shops charge 125+ even for a simple fix and have crazy long repair times. If this would have happened after a few years of owning, u would highly recommend this machine but since it is so new, I fear it’s an indication of machine quality lacking.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Replacing a 64-year-old Singer
on February 15, 2026
Posted by: Singer 600 to 6800C
I bought the Singer HD 6800C sewing machine for my mother's birthday which is replacing her "Touch N Sew 600" (manufactured around 1962). After years of use her Singer 600 started to wind the thread around the bobbin causing a mess and requiring the removal of the bobbin and pulling out the section that was sewed. I picked the 6800C because it defaults to a standard straight stich without teaching my mother the advanced stitching functions or having to use a computer. She quilts all the time and is a member of the local quilting group. Today she told me that she was able to finish the complete top of a basic quilt without stopping to "fight" with the machine. The Singer 6800C makes nice, clean straight stiches in the quilting fabric without complaining or binding. The only complaint so far, it the lack of a user manual. We still have the manual for the Singer 600, and mother and I are older than the internet, so, paper manuals for the Singer 6800C is a desired feature.
