[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a few weeks ago and I’m happy I did. It’s easy to use and looks so modern. I can sew up tears in clothes or my sons little stuffed animals. I love it so much. I am working on making a dress. This sewing machine makes it easy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have owned this sewing machine for several months. Using the different stitches has helped me create better designs.

was I too spoiled in the past?

My last Singer sewing machine I bought 28 years ago and it worked for me through all my various sewing projects including clothes, home decorating items, mending, quilting, etc. before finally dying on me this year, While this 6180 machine looks fabulous, and the various stiches were fun to play with,I only sewed a total of four feet or less before the bobbin caught and now I get a C4 error, and we have cleaned it inside and out and the error won't clear. I guess I'm not impressed with these "digital" machines... :-/ and I still have my new curtains to sew!!!

I bought this product two days ago and when I started seeing it worked for five minute and stopped running. It wouldn’t start running again after that

The machine sews very well. Upper and lower thread tensioning is excellent, stitches are even with no puckering or gathering. Surprisingly solid feel, and very low vibration for such a value-priced machine. Bobbin loading is easy and problem free, and the bobbins hold a LOT of thread. Pressure foot release is beneath the arm, not behind it, I'm still getting used to that. The reverse is a button rather than a lever, but it works. Cons: the manual is a nightmare, each page contains multiple languages rather than having the different languages in their own section. I found it difficult and irritating to read. There are no photos, only rather poor drawings; and no help finding the "bobbin access door". My biggest, and really my only significant complaint, is the knob used to raise and lower the needle. Turning it clockwise can damage the machine, yet there is no anti-reverse pawl to prevent you from doing that. There isn't even a big red arrow or anything on the knob to warn you about it. I'm a guy...I read directions only as a last resort, and this piece of critical information is buried in fine print. I just made a couple fishing rod cases to try it out. It runs smoothly and the fabric tracks straight and smooth. Next I'll use the overcast foot and blind hem foot on my wife's new pants. I'm happy with the machine, and I would buy it again, but please, somebody, paint an arrow on the knob. Revise the manual by replacing the drawings with photos; show the location of the bobbin door; and please have separate sections for the different languages.

Pretty, but not functional.

I've had a similar experience as many of the other reviewers. Continuous C4 errors regardless of everything I do to try to remedy it. Fabric and thread bunching on the underside of the garment. I've had this machine for over 2 years and have used it on a handful of projects. Most of which were very small as I would lose my patience shortly after I'd begin the project due to all of the mishaps that seemed to happen. I've used many Singer sewing machines and this has been the worst. I honestly just think that the products are made to be so "affordable" and "high tech" that they sacrifice quality and functionality. Maybe it's because they outsource their manufacturing. I don't know. All I do know is that I will never again purchase a Singer product.

Perfect for fun and general works

This is my second review - I realized I have the machine for 9 years, not 6, and after being stopped for almost 2 years, I needed to use it again - a maintenance and it was again ready to go, as good as new. I’m 2 years more experienced now than the last time I used it and my perception of this machine has changed for better. I do recommend being extra careful when threading, holding the upper thread and tensioning it while threading the machine. Main thing, everything is easy with this machine as long as you don’t ask her to be extra fast or sew through heavy layers
I would recommend this to a friend!

Short life for avid sewers

This is my 2nd Brilliance 6180, the 1st lasted about 9 months. I assumed that my machine was just faulty or I had done something wrong unbeknownst to me. So rather than have it fixed because it would cost more than I paid for the machine, I just purchased another of same model.
This new machine lasted less than 6 months and now the same issue is occurring. I sew almost daily, use many different stitches and materials and once again the stitch settings no longer work. Its like the machine gets confused and switches through different stitches. As much as I would love to just upgrade my machine or replace it, I don't feel that its worth the investment given if its not going to last and ill possibly be in the same boat in another 6 months...
