Poor Design

Next to the Beetle, T1, Mini, Caterham, F40 the design of this set looks more to a Harry Potter bus than the real thing. I guess I bought it in a weak moment just to have it next to the other classic cars or to complete my London set next to the 'Big Ben' Tower of Parliament and Tower Bridge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I havent used lego since when i was a kid. 2,4,6,8,10 or 12 place blocks of Red or White only. Lego's come a long way. Really enjoyed making the Bus. Next will be the "Saturn 5", "Millenium Falcon" then the 2.5million piece Cruise Liner.

I used to help my son with basic Lego in years gone by. I was looking for something to occupy my time in the dark cold winter months and latched onto this. Not difficult to build and very absorbing - end result is great. Got plenty of practice and keen for more

Almost too easy

My eleven year old son received the Lego London Bus for Christmas. By the next day, it was already put together. He was very entertained, for less than a day.
I enjoyed watching him put this Lego, as well as all of the other Legos, together. I only wish they could keep him entertained for more than a few hours - as he completes them way too fast.

I like it, but don't love it

Don't get me wrong, this is a lovely build, lots of SNOT techniques, giving beautiful clear lines of a build. However, I just didn't love it. It's a little clunky, and just a smidge disappointing that there wasn't even one minifigure, like a proper driver and/or conductor. I think my biggest issue was that I had just gotten renewed Lego enthusiasm having completed the Saturn V build......now that my friends, is a thing of beauty, and I've rebuilt it around 5 times, currently my 9 year old is having a bash. But I've redone this one once, and I'm bored already....it's not difficult or challenging, though the stairs was very intriguing and I might look into doing MOC's using those techniques.
Now one positive for the London Bus, apart from the oft mentioned cuteness of umbrellas, tickets and hidden gum......is that it is sturdy enough for my kids to add random minifig passengers and drive it round the floor without much mishap. They have mastered the separation of the floors/roof quite easily. All told, it's a nice piece for my shelf, but I should possibly think of adding some more Londonness in the Tower Bridge or Big Ben large builds.

The SNOT techniques and stairs definitely add a nice element of difficulty to the beautiful London Bus. It is always tough to compare a set like the Saturn V and the London bus, as they are both vastly different in their own fun ways. I also have both, and I like to give myself time to forget about the one I just built, just so I can start fresh!
I also love that your family is getting so much play out of it, so inspiring!

All Aboard the London Bus

This Lego kit was one of the easier builds that I have done, but also has a few more negatives than the other builds. The first negative has to do with stickers, for I found it easy to make a mistake even following the instructions. The second part of my sticker gripe is the upper front window, for I accidentally ruined the red dividing sticker. To me it would had been better having two windows and some kind of thin divider going down the middle or make a special window for it. However, it still looks nice without the red divider. The second negative (others have already commented on) is that it lacks minifigures and not only that it doesn't seem that London Bus is setup of them either. I would imagine the playability of the London Bus would also be lacking if I were a child. I do like the details that went into to the London Bus, but it just seems that Lego's heart wasn't in this model. Just my opinion.
