Iconic and Fun

I was very excited when i saw this set was coming out as i already had the promotional miniature London Bus and i thought that this would look really cool with that along with the Big Ben set, so i bought almost as soon as it came out.
The build itself took me 2 days but i purposely took my time so it was roughly 5 hours of actual building time, it wasn't overly difficult but it was a very enjoyable build, very fun with lots of bright colours used (obviously mainly red), there are some cool printed pieces like a newspaper, can of drink and the tickets, you also get some awesome stickers which include the names of the places where the bus will stop such as 'Brickston' and 'Brickadilly Circus' and also the number 9...another really cool thing about this set is you can either have it with a retro look or a modern day look, you can change this by swapping the number plates and the advertisement signs (all of which are stickers) which is also good because you use all of them but you can just swap them over rather then having some stickers left unused. You also get an umbrella and a new exclusive 1x2 red brick which helps with the side wards building, and one final thing which i thought was a nice touch is you get a little pink stud which goes under one of the seats which represents gum!
You can take the roof off and the top deck very easily and it all feels very sturdy when doing so, so you don't need to worry too much about moving it around. It doesn't a great deal of play ability apart from moving it back and forward and being able to take it apart into 3 sections, but it is still a really good set and definitely worth buying, especially if you have other London themed sets.
I would give this set 5/5 because its very fun, looks amazing on display, its very iconic and its a really well designed and built set, so I strongly recommend it.

A fun build. Neat details. Directions could be a bit clearer in certain areas.

Fun to build with kids

I build it slowly over a period of time with the kids. The set is nicely designed with some interesting details (e.g. the driver compartment, the engine etc). The scale is actually perfect with minifigs and it makes the bus perfectly for the kids to play with after.

I love challenges. Especially 1000+ pieces. I'm at peace building my legos and I like to take my time. I really enjoyed the London Bus from the worn seats to the umbrella and ticket box. The spiral staircase was amazing. Every detail was similar to the real thing. I was hoping there would have been customers and a driver to put inside of it but maybe next time. Keep up the great work Lego creators!!!

Great Value

When I saw this was available I knew I just have to have it, being a fan of Lego since my childhood I have continued to collect it well into my adult life.
This model looks great and has some nice features, if you also have some technic Lego figures knocking around (like I did) they also fit in side the bus and seem to fit the scale of the bus well :)
For any collector out there this is a must have in my opinion.
Thanks Lego

Next stop: London

This is a great model which has earned one of the prime spots on my display shelves, alongside my tower bridge. It couldn't reach the level of the Porsche, but it is a very different type of model of course. Another reviewer has complained that this model is not true to the original real thing, but there were so many variants of these buses and one simply has to look at a few Google images to see that it is an excellent representation, especially considering that we are talking about Lego here, with its standard dimensions. Even though this set is under the Expert range, the build itself was not all that challenging, but I still found it very rewarding, and I think there were quite a few clever techniques used that raised my eyebrows when they came together. I also enjoyed discovering all the little details that add to it, like the forgotten brollie, and the sliding window for the driver. My girlfriend even wanted to get involved and that is saying something. If, like me, you love London, then this is most definitely a model you should own. And even if you are not a London fan, this is a lovely model from both a build and a display perspective.

Rushed Design

The Lego Creator Expert line of vehicles has been a fantastic range so far, capturing iconic vehicles in Lego form. Unfortunately it's first foray into public transport has been the first failure for the line.
One of the great things about the Expert cars has been the way they capture the essence of the cars they are representing, offering a superb representation of the vehicle in Lego. The bus however looks just the opposite, from almost every angle it looks off to varying degrees. This is worst at the front where the 'face' of the bus has been very poorly captured, the grill to tall and high and the whole front of the top deck an absolute mess. The side profile is off and Lego have decided to add odd running boards to the side which detracts form the smooth design of the original. Whilst the less said about the bizarre design of the top deck windows the better. Only the back (arguably the hardest bit to get right) shows any hint of capturing the look of the original.
Another great thing about the Creator line in general is the interesting build techniques, you always get a moment in each kit where you marvel at the designers ingenious use of parts. Sadly this kit has none of that. The build isn't boring as there is little repetition but there is also nothing new here, there is no imaginative parts use and it can be clunky at times.
Overall this kit feels rushed, the Lego designers are famous for the rigorous design process they go through, repeatedly iterating to get the design right. However this kit comes across as an early stage proof of concept design. The saving grace however is it is great value for the parts you get, so it's an excellent parts pack to create your own design.
