More fun than I expected it would be

Normally I do Technic models, but I saw it and thought it would go great with the Buckingham Palace, it is a very nicely detailed iconic double decker bus. I think it will also go well with the large Big Ben.
The build was done in stages, I started Sunday night and worked on it for a bit. I then finished it on Monday morning. The build was a lot of fun, I found one step that gave me a small problem until I realized I had placed a clear stud in the wrong place for the lid to seal.
There are many extra details, like the umbrella stand and the newspaper that someone left behind which are very nice touches. I only put in one of the seat patches as I decided the bus was not as heavily used as a normal one. ;-)
I plan on adding some minifigs to hang out in the bus shortly.
All in all, a very fun build, now I need to get Tower Bridge so I can park it nearby. And someone convince LEGO to make a larger Buckingham Palace. Then I can have a larger London set than the architecture set.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great...but could still be improved!

A long story short it's a fantastic kit that includes some really clever and enjoyable building techniques, but could also be improved in some areas.
I would personally prefer it to hold together a little better and dismantling it to look inside etc can be quite a tricky, delicate and slow process. Because of this it lacks playability (Though that's not an issue for me personally) and is more suited to being put on display. The detail features are OK, some such as the discarded newspaper and umbrella are nice, but then others like the fire extinguisher and bubble gum under the seat you can't really ever see and feel like they have been added in for no real reason other than to claim them as 'extra detail' whilst not really adding anything to the kit.
I also still think it's ever so slightly overpiced but having said that it does have fantastic display value.
I realise however these are minor grumbles and all things considered there's a lot more I like about this set than dislike. It really is a sight for saw eyes when finished, especially from a distance, and a must have for any collector!

This set, as well as the modular buildings, have a neat way of holding the levels together and still allowing easy access to them. This build does allow for easy removal and construction of the levels, and if it is hard to remove and put back on, you may need to go over the building instructions again and make some adjustments.
As far as the details are concerned, many of our fans have come to love the little surprises or additions that are a little harder to notice. They really do add a bit of cleverness to the build.

this set in mine and mums standard is 90% at this current time. to make this reveiw 100% the set could have included 1 driver minifigure and 1 conductor minifigure then this set is in our veiw would be spot on for price. this is a really fun and entertaining build for all and i would recommend it to other who like a bit of a challenge and fun
we like the colour and overal design as well

Lovely reminder of home

I'm from London but live in New York. Bought this model because I love lego and remember the Routemaster busses in London - so this model is great reminder of home. Great detail, and really is faithful to the Routemaster design.
Pretty sizable lego set for the money too.

I love the cute cars Lego made, i.e., T1, Beetle, mini cooper, etc. The bus is cute and I strongly recommend it. About the London bus, I like the ticket box, the umbrella holder and the fire extinguisher near the door. I wish the ad boards on both sides of the bus would be more versatile. The second floor is a little bit boring with a bunch of seats. I am very happy to have it. So far, my most favorite is still the T1 van.
