Are the arrows reversed?

I bought these filters at Lowes looking at them and seeing the air flow arrows they look backwards because the air filter supports are facing intake, never seen that before.This AM WOKE TO A whistling sound coming from intake, not happy. I AM taking them back.

Poor fit

I purchased 20x30x1 filters for my 2 HVAC systems and tried to install them in factory manufactured return air grills. I removed the old 20x30x1 hardware store branded filters and attempted to install the new Filtrete basic ones. They were so tight I had to force them into the opening causing them to bow, allowing the air to go around the filters. I ended going back to the hardware store and purchase the cheaper brand that fit properly. I had this same issue at another property I own. Picture it the filter that fits correctly.

Been searching high and low for a polyester filter that flows as free as possible. Too many people get hung up on what the filter will filter out and forget that a furnace has to breath too. Otherwise the blower motor works too hard and is more apt to burn out as well as the a/c a-coil being more prone to freeze up. Do some internet research. My furnace has a static pressure issue ( more furnaces do than people realize) and wanted something better than the spun fiberglass filters that dont really filter- you can pour salt right thru them. This filter fits the bill... The merv 5 rating (3m equivelant of 100 in their rating system) is the only merv 5 that the big box stores sell in my area. Just wish they would go back to the standard 'boxed' framework that seals so much better.
Give them a try and see if you dont get better airflow thru your discharge vents and save on your bill sinc ethe blower dosent have to work so hard.

Air Flow arrow points the wrong way

Second package in a row where air flow arrow implies screen side on the inlet side of the filter. This can't be right - is it?

How about some real filter specifications like MERV or FPR or MPR or CFMs rating specifications rather than "Packaging Info". Kind of ironic since 3M created MERV.

Unhappy with recent change to filters

I always purchased the 3 pack Filtrete Basic Air Filters, but recently they changed the wire coils that wrapped throughout the filter with what looks like plastic thin strips that don't look secure. Sure enough, they aren't very sturdy. I had to replace 2 in one month due to bending in the cardboard trim and it caused the air passing through to whistle due to the bent cardboard. I always replaced my filters once a month, now I'm on my third filter within a month and half. Unsatisfied with new filter design. I would recommend the old 3 pack filters, not these with the new design.

better air flow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed this filter two weeks ago and have seen a definite improvement over the better rated ones, seems like my a/c has shorter run cycles and my house is as cool as before. I will use this level of filter from now on. Also the last two weeks we have had record setting temperatures almost each day.
I would recommend this to a friend!

bad product - 3M basic Filtrete

I bought these filters and I regretted I did. There are three filters in a package and all of them should have failed quality control. There are various spots throughout each filter that have barely any filtering material/fiber. I had to buy another filter to help in the process. I still believe that 3M products are excellent inspite of this one.
